Grateful for three years with the Dodgers, @DrivelineBB, @ZachDechant, and everyone who’s supported me.

Excited to join the Astros as the Assistant Director of Player Development, bringing together integrated player development and working with the best players in the world.

This Simpsons joke about Catholic v Protestant heaven is welded into my brain, especially because in the narrative of the show Catholic heaven is meant to be undesirable despite Christ himself preferring it

[Call me Keir @RUGBY_STR_COACH]

The OODA loop is a fantastic decision making framework, but it has some inaccuracies, specifically: the brain is not a computer, skills are not like pre-planned programs, and sporting skill is not the conscious, top down phenomenon we think it is.

In this @learntotackle video, I'll explain why skill is actually an emergent, self-organized relationship between athlete, task, and environment, and what this means for you and how you coach skills like the tackle.

🏈 Wrestling for Football programming drops 1st December. Subscribe to this channel for a special discount when it drops.

KEY LEARNING POINTS

- The brain isn’t a computer. We can’t process all perceptual information, run simulations, and control every degree of freedom in a tackle.

- Skills aren’t programs we select and “push play” on. Strategies overlap, scenarios are endless, and we have to cope with novel situations.

- Elite decision-making is largely autonomous, not a top-down, conscious process.

- Ecological dynamics frames skills as self-organized, emergent patterns that arise from interacting with the environment.

-Athletes are pushed toward one affordance over others by the interaction of individual, task, and environmental constraints.

-Context and individuality matter. One technique or system can’t fit every athlete, position, and situation.

- Practical approach: build breadth of movement options, nudge athletes toward better options with carefully designed scenarios, then use repetition and depth to refine timing, coordination, and adaptability. Let the environment provide the feedback.

Before the Movement Laboratory had a name, our athletes were creating their own movement solutions.

We provided the environment. They explored the possibilities.

The work before the words.

Tradition Never Graduates.

A juvenile bar-tailed godwit named "B6" set the world record for the longest non-stop migration by an animal by flying WITHOUT STOPPING 13,560 km (8,425 mi) from Alaska to Tasmania, Australia.

The journey took 11 days, in which time the bird lost half its bodyweight.

NFL ALL22 is missing these 4 plays from last night? on both the game replay and in NFL pro

[Shawn Myszka @MovementMiyagi]

It's a wrap on Week 6 of the 2026 NFL season and you know what that means...

It's time for our Movement Play of the Week!

This one comes to us through the special kinesthetic sense & awareness of Titans' safety @amanihooker37!

Take the deep dive into my breakdown of the play over at the Movement Miyagi YouTube channel and when you do, stay tuned for an activity you can use in your own training & practice environment in hopes of facilitating similar movement skill for the players you work with!

Circular causality: the parts create the pattern, and the pattern then constrains the parts

A core idea in ecological dynamics (via Kelso), it dissolves the chicken and egg question. neither comes first, each shapes one another

Give athletes problems to solve.

Find space. Get past an opponent. Time a jump.

Change the space, rules, or interactions to create opportunities for athletes to explore, make decisions, and adapt.

What problems are your athletes solving in training?

Thing about this…this is what sport media has turned into. It used to be telling the players stories, giving the highlights, now it’s guys who disrespect for attention

And this is the same mindset that sits in many owners boxes, coaches offices and front offices around the NFL
