Human Performance & Nutrition. Trusted by the world’s outliers in sport, entertainment & business. Managing Director, INTRA Performance Group. Former Arsenal FC
High-pressure decisions aren’t made from a single formula. They come from a set of practices that unfold before, during, and after pivotal moments—and translate directly to business leadership.
Interviews with 11 top coaches across major U.S., European, Australian, and New Zealand professional sports leagues, reveal how they perform under pressure.
Here are the practices they use—and how business leaders can use them to increase the quality of their own decision-making.

One of my biggest learnings: The real high performers do extensive due diligence on you.
📚 They’ll read your articles.
🎥 Watch your interviews.
📖 Even read your book.
I now find it very reassuring when someone has taken time to do their research before meeting.
🚩 Red flags to watch for:
1️⃣ Representative won’t bring the performer onto the discovery call.
2️⃣ Fixated on programme cost or request a break clause in the contract
3️⃣ Turning up late to meetings
4️⃣ Indications they aren’t ready to prioritise a lifestyle change
More than one of these? You’re in for trouble.
What do high performers - athletes, CEOs, and entertainers - really want?
From my work with the 0.01%, here’s what I’ve learned:
1️⃣ They want the credentials and services of your team, as advertised
2️⃣ They want to trust a process that will lead them to a desired outcome
3️⃣ They want your team to understand their unique context
But remember - the real high performers do more due diligence on you than you might expect, before committing:
📚 They’ll read your articles.
🎥 Watch your interviews.
📖 Even read your book.
The performers and their team will want to qualify the scope and depth of your expertise in a world full of social media gurus (which is great!).
But taking on a high performer is a two-way street. The biggest lesson I’ve learned?
🛑 Never ignore red flags in a discovery meeting
🚩 Reps refusing to introduce the performer for a discovery call
🚩 Fixated on programme cost or requesting a break clause in the contract.
🚩 Turning up late to meetings
🚩 Indications they aren't ready to prioritise a lifestyle change

A big honour for me to work with @FIFAcom on this project.
It’s a personal mission of mine to highlight the importance of nutrition across the 211 member associations, to 'give every talent a chance'.
Also showcasing our groups work @INTRApg@UEFA
