You're wisest if you can learn from other's mistakes
You're wise if you can learn from your own mistakes
You're a fool if you keep making them

Relying on "AI software engineers" to write your code is the 2024 equivalent of NFTs. Human devs will be cleaning up this mess for years. Our jobs are safe.
My worst @MyMightyTaco experience yet at the Lockport NY store. Two super packs w/ empanadas & crunchers should be enough to feed the family. Too bad they botched the order. Everything in ONE bag, empanadas on the BOTTOM, and the sloppiest excuse for a wrap job I've ever seen
@localheinz Since we changed the format, yes. We no longer do the standard 3 statements. Only "This is what I'm doing today" and impediments "If" there are any. Cut them from 15 minutes to 5, and everyone has a better understanding of what is happening
@CalEvans 23 years in and no actual 'Degree' besides a web course at ITT. I just like building things and learning. I've seen more languages/tech/etc come and go then you can imagine. You just need a logical mind that likes to solve puzzles
Watching a senior developer get stuck on a bug and then walk through his/her process for fixing it is one of the most helpful things a junior can witness.
You learn their strategy for thinking through problems, and you also realize that everyone gets stuck sometimes.
Recruiter: I see you have 20+ years of experience, I’d like to offer you a Jr. Dev position 3000 miles away from you that doesn’t match your resume for half what you usually make.

Being self taught, I totally agree:
“Computer science education cannot make anybody an expert programmer any more than studying brushes and pigment can make somebody an expert painter.” — Eric S. Raymond
@codeguy@facebook Had one of their HR Recruters contact me a few weeks ago. I was like “No Thanks”. The idea of working for FB, or even Google or MS, just doesn’t apeal to me. Might as well go to a factory and work on a assembly line.
