Egan starts at home to Manchester United in Hull’s opening game of the Premier League season, making his first appearance in the top flight since September 30th, 2023.

And what a journey it has been to get back here.

At the end of that season, Egan left Sheffield United as a free agent after achieving so much with the club. After a summer which saw him spend time with West Ham before a short spell at Burnley, there were probably doubts over whether he would ever get another opportunity at the highest level.

But Egan has grafted and grafted ever since.

He made Hull his home, became a leader both on and off the pitch, popped up with huge goals, produced massive performances at the back and played a major part in helping the club win promotion to the Premier League.

Now, just under three years since his last appearance in the competition, John Egan is back in the Premier League.

What a journey. Thoroughly deserved.
