Delighted to have been appointed as the Executive Member for Inclusive Economy & Planning at Islington Council.
First day today and straight in at the deep end with Alan Milburn launching his interim report on NEETs in the borough this morning. Lots to get up to speed with!
Yesterday, Alan Milburn launched his first report into the number of young people NEET from our Cally Youth Hubπ
The new figures are a stark warning: a system-wide view must be taken to give our young people in Islington and beyond the best opportunities to thrive π‘
Very pleased to have been re-elected in Junction Ward with Sheila and Ben and proud that Islington remained a Labour borough πΉ
But I feel sad for the councillors in Islington, London and the whole country who lost their seats. We lost a lot of good community champions yesterday
Thank you to everyone who voted for Islington Labour yesterday. We retained control of the council.
Testament to the hard work of our councillors and members.
But deeply disappointing to have lost 3 seats to the Greens in Islington South & 13 more in the north.
Four years since I wrote this blog about why Polling Day is great. Itβs still great! Bring on today!

From record investment in council homes and the UKβs largest buy-back scheme, to 24/7 patrols tackling antisocial behaviour, to helping thousands into jobs and apprenticeships - @IslingtonLabour delivers for the community every day.
This Thursday - vote Labour.
The old @ZackPolanski
Meanwhile Labour:
β 240k London kids lifted out of poverty
β Minimum wage raised twice
β Hundreds of free breakfast clubs
β Over 100m free school meals delivered
β 2.7m renters protected
Slogans vs substance
Itβs been a busy few days on the doors! πͺ
Just 5 days to go! Always good to chat to residents and pick up casework. ππ»
Oh and lots of support for Labour too! πΉ
