@TimCBaines Congrats at hell of a run Tim! By any standard, 37 years at one outlet is an amazing journey.
I had the pleasure of working with you on several great articles, but I’ll always remember the 1:1 exclusive with Don Cherry during the 2012 All-Star Game in Ottawa.
Happy trails!!
Terribly sad news. I had the pleasure of working with a Greg as a media member when I was with the Leafs PR team and later on as a colleague at HNIC.
Great guy, sharp hockey mind and a great sense of humour.
My deepest condolences to your family. RIP Millsey.
It is with heavy hearts we share the sudden passing of Greg Millen today. He played 14 seasons between the pipes in the National Hockey League for six teams: the Pittsburgh Penguins, Hartford Whalers, St. Louis Blues, Quebec Nordiques, Chicago Blackhawks, and Detroit Red Wings. Over his NHL career, Millen appeared in more than 600 regular-season games.
After retiring from professional play, Millen transitioned to broadcasting. He began by covering the Ottawa Senators during their inaugural season in 1992-93. His broadcasting career includes roles as a colour commentator for CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada and the NHL on Sportsnet, where he worked alongside Hockey Night in Canada Greats Bob Cole, Harry Neale, Don Cherry, Ron MacLean and Jim Hughson. Greg worked with our NHL Alumni Executive Director Glenn Healy where both served as analysts and were part of the same Hockey Night in Canada broadcast team.
He was known and loved by all in the broadcasting world! Millen has covered three Olympic Games, two World Cups of Hockey, twelve Stanley Cup finals, and twelve NHL All-Star games.
In 2014, Millen earned a master’s degree in leadership from the University of Guelph. He was involved in leadership character development, working with the Seattle Kraken and various corporations. Additionally, he taught leadership at Fleming College in Peterborough.
Millen is married and has four children.
Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with Greg’s family at this very difficult time.
@ian_mendes Full career circle Ian!
Now you and @Stephen_Keogh get to trade Battle of Ontario barbs 3-4x a year.
Congrats on the new role!! The club is lucky to have one of the best in the business.
@JeffMarek From the early days at AM640 Leafs Lunch, to a colleague at HNIC and a trusted contact at Sportsnet, you are hands down one of the best people and most knowledgeable hockey journalist in the business. I can't wait to watch you crush the next chapter of your career.
Alex Rodriguez asked a question. Reggie Jackson answered it.
(Shouts to the producer and rest of the desk for staying out of Reggie’s way and just letting him talk. I doubt they expected this answer. But it’s a great few minutes of television.)
Weller covering the Billie Eilish Oscar Winning song from the Barbie movie is not something I ever thought I'd be typing, but this is fucking beautiful.

@SimonDingleyTV Congrats Simon - from Leafs media avails at Lakeshore/ACC to my countless CBC News - Toronto pitches, you were always the best to work with. Enjoy the Carlsberg Years!!!
@adiemiddle Now that's the Bob Cole I know and worked with for seven years. Hands down the best play-by-play voice hockey has ever had. RIP to the Legend
My heart is broken today. My friend Bob Cole passed away last night in his beloved St. John’s.
He was one of the sound tracks of our game.
He had a passion that every hockey fan felt every time he announced a game.
There will only be one Bob Cole.
And now he’s gone.
