Doug Ford calling Toronto Island residents “squatters” is not just wrong it’s discriminatory and very classist.
About 260 homes and 650 people live there legally. Their community is protected under the Toronto Islands Residential Community Stewardship Act (1993).
They own their homes and lease the land through the City of Toronto. Millions of Canadians live on leased land communities across this country.
Calling them “squatters” just goes to show how pompous Doug Ford is.
