@scratchscrotum Yep. Let’s lay off the booze & enjoy a few final years in our under-funded nursing homes cared for by under paid nurses after all our savings have been taken away and we live on a poverty pension, before someone decides we’re too much of a burden on the state.
The Football Gods discussing their plans for Scotland at the World Cup:
“Scotland? Been on the naughty list since Ally’s Army in the Argentine back in 1978. Lads…it’s time for the deluxe suffering package…
First we let them qualify after 28 years with outlier wonder goals so the whole country loses its mind.
Then we gift them a 1-0 win over Haiti — their first World Cup win since 1990 — just so they start believing this might actually be their year to finally get out of the group stage for the first time ever. But it’s the hope that will kill them. So here’s the plan…
Morocco will score against Scotland after just 71 seconds and we watch the hope physically leave their bodies.
Then we send Brazil round to play like it’s a testimonial and still win 3-0 due Scottish defensive howlers and Vinicius Jr doing keepy-uppies.
And then we will leave them dangling on exactly 3 points and -3 goal difference and make their entire qualification dream dependent on the results of a bunch of random third-placed teams. They will end up relying on teams like Iraq, Uzbekistan and Egypt to get them through. Yet this will be a slow torture for days on end as results don’t go in their favour
They will end up mainlining the Congo v Uzbekistan match at midnight praying for a late Uzbekistan penalty…which they will then miss.
This isn’t football anymore.
This is the Football Gods running a live psychological torture experiment on an entire country and live-streaming it for our own entertainment.
But we love the Tartan Army. They don’t deserve this shite. So we will give them a massive two week bender in Boston and Miami.”
@PhillipMPope@CadetesGhirl Except Scotland won their qualifying group outright and would have qualified in a 36 team or even 24 team event.
Somehow we cannot bring that form to actual tournament football though.
@WingsScotland It’s not even as if Scottish media have ever been capable of holding the politicians to account.
But first time there is any questions about this executive & they respond like cowards.
They are not fit for purpose.
@Macnessie The press will always be biased for their favoured causes.
Politicians will still act in their own best interests.
Scotland is not immune from this & recent evidence shows we are as susceptible as anyone.
But with independence, we can at least vote them out.
