74 individuals from eight species on the transects this morning. Our 1st White Admiral of the season, unfortunately not this one. Also, not a butterfly but a Hummingbird Hawkmoth that kept landing on the path ahead of us. @savebutterflies@BCWarwickshire@MOTHIDUK@uk_butterflies
Just four clearwings this week; Orange-Tailed and Red-Belted in West Midlands garden, Welsh in Staffordshire and White-Barred in Shropshire. All attracted to lures. @BCWestMidlands@savebutterflies
A visit to Wyre Forest over the Bank Holiday where we saw many Pearl=Bordered Fritillaries. We then went to some picnic benches and while I was getting the TIP lure ready to hang in nearby bushes three White-Barred Clearwings joined us at the table. @savebutterflies@MOTHIDUK
Managed to see all the species we were looking for as we made our way down Prestbury Hill, Marsh and Duke of Burgundy Fritillaries shown. 👍 Disappointingly we had to make our way back up to the car in the heat. 🥵☹️ @savebutterflies@uk_butterflies
58 individuals from 11 species noted in the hot sunshine this morning. Large Skippers are the latest species to be recorded. Managed to get it done before the temperature climbed to high. @savebutterflies@BCWarwickshire@uk_butterflies
Nine species of butterfly noted on the transects walked on the 16th May. New for this year were; Brown Argus, Common Blue and Small Heath. @savebutterflies@BCWarwickshire
Loads of Holly Blues about this year but you do not get many willing to pose with their wings partly open. Taken in my West Midlands garden. @savebutterflies@BCWestMidlands@uk_butterflies
Grizzled Skippers can usually be found with a bit of searching. But a Hairy Dragonfly at Harbury Spoilbank LNR., @WKWT was a bit of a surprise, no water there.
@BCWarwickshire@BDSdragonflies
A new species but I couldn't get too excited about seeing it. Lesser Scaup, Yellow Wagtails and a small collection of waders were a lot more interesting. Clifton Pits, Worcestershire, a Richardson's Cackling Goose. @RareBirdAlertUK@BirdGuides
Found this on the Transects today. As it has a bad crease on one forewing thought it had been dumped as no use to a collector. A few minutes later found another in perfect condition. A Map Butterfly. @BCWarwickshire@savebutterflies@uk_butterflies@WKWT
