Scotland under the leadership of Ally MacLeod were looking to win at Wembley for the first time in 10 years and also knew that a win would retain the Home Championships title.

A wonderful header from Gordon McQueen just before halftime and Kenny Dalglish midway in the second half secured the win.

Mick Channon gave the hosts late hope but it was too little too late and a crowd of just over 98,000, with around two-thirds who were fans who travelled across the border, seen the Scots leave Wembley with the title.

It has been announced in the last couple of minutes by the Unite Union that major oil and gas operators in the UK are going to be hit by industrial unrest within weeks.

Around 1400 off-shore workers across 5 companies are going to go on strike.
