It's #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek & this year's theme is 'Body Image'. The poem 'Love After Love' by Derek Walcott is a Reading Rooms favourite. It hits home the message of loving yourself & today we'd like to share it with you, read by our own Claire Harkin https://t.co/BT6mFImfhR
And we’re off! A warm welcome to @ReadingFriends_ at Edenballymore Lodge today. Volunteers Lyndon and Liz got to know our new group. They read poems and chatted about weddings, grandchildren, Italy, and sport. Plenty to build upon!
@amandadeibert A teacher sneared at me in the assessment centre . I was 17. "you copy all your poems off Bob Marley records". Poems were all I had. A couple of weeks ago The Times speculated if I was going to be the next poet laureate.
Reading Friends #volunteer Gerry answered some quick-fire questions for us, including the best book he's ever read and his new found musical talent. Find out what it is! @VerbalArtsDerry

Launched by @nihecommunity & @VerbalArtsDerry & supported by @SEUPB's PEACE IV Programme, the @LSCVerbal project uses transportive storytelling to inspire meaningful conversations and, in turn, address the needs of our tenants.
Just a week to go until @WorldBookNight. How are you getting on with The Handmaid's Tale and Mad Girl? Will you have finished reading them by April 23 at 14.30 in Eason? Would a free cup of coffee on the day help? Contact Verbal for more information.
Look what arrived today! We’re getting ready for @WorldBookNight If you’re coming to our WBN event at Eason in Derry/Londonderry, DM this page to claim your FREE copy of Mad Girl by Bryony Gordon.
@SEUPB @extern1978 We were delighted to welcome Gina McIntyre, Chief Executive of SEUPB to our Reading Rooms session at Verbal yesterday. Gina met some of our young men taking part in the project as we explored the theme of mental health using literature by Edgar Allan Poe.
Huge congratulations to Ebrington PS @ThornhillDerry College on their success at the #SCOTY - I am looking forward to hosting a civic reception in their honour in the near future. It is a brilliant success & is further proof that we truly are the city of song.
The very best of luck to Mrs Quigley and our school choir competing in the School Choir of the Year 2019 Grand Final in the Ulster Hall in Belfast tomorrow. 🎼🤞🏻🎼 Listen to the grand final live on @BBCRadioFoyle and @bbcradioulster from 14:03pm.
