🕯️Today, Raymond Chan 陳志全, aka Slow Beat, spends his 54th birthday unjustly imprisoned in #HongKong.
No one should spend time in prison for defending democracy.
We wish him a happy birthday and call for his immediate release, along with all political prisoners in #HK.

As we prepare to celebrate #Easter, our co-founder and Chair @benedictrogers has written this message of hope for those in jail or under persecution in #HongKong and beyond 👇
In his op-ed for @spectator, our Chair @benedictrogers urges @ukhomeoffice to establish clear guidelines on citizenship applications from Hong Kongers facing political persecution like our Advisor @finnlau_cd, to demonstrate sustained support for the #HongKong community in 🇬🇧

Today is Palm Sunday, marking the beginning of Holy Week as we approach Easter.
Today's procession across Trafalgar Square to St Martin-in-the-Fields is a powerful retelling of the story of Jesus’s arrival in Jerusalem.
We welcome @FCDOGovUK's report supporting #FreeJimmyLai, BNO visa holders, and noting serious transnational repression, but claiming #HongKong has high economic autonomy downplays how rule-of-law erosion threatens 🇬🇧 businesses.

Contrary to news reports, @ukhomeoffice has not yet committed to a B2 English language exemption for #BNO Hong Kongers. Comments by @MikeTappTweets suggest that future changes could be made which affect BNOs.
We welcome the exemption of #BNOs from the latest changes to the Immigration Rules, but continue to advocate for a full exemption.

Thanks to all who joined for last night's U.K. launch of our "'We Were Made to Suffer': Systemic Abuse and Political Control in Hong Kong's Prisons" report, authored by @thecfhk's @frances_hui & @SamuelBickett.
Special thanks to @jameswnaish MP for hosting and tabling questions to @UKParliamenton on #HK prisons following the event. We also thank @SarahLudford for attending and her attention to the ongoing problems with the U.K. government's failure to adequately account for #HongKongers who are victims of political persecution — we look forward to working with you to ensure they receive safe haven, in line with Britain's historical obligations to Hong Kong.
We heard harrowing testimony from @TonyChungHonLam, who contributed to our report (link below), and witnessed widespread physical & sexual abuse, as well as solitary confinement as a form of torture, during his three years behind bars on political charges.
Chung also called attention to how HK National Security Police monitor, harass, and intimidate political prisoners even after their release, including pressuring them to inform on other dissidents.
@JFSteinfeld flagged that Hong Kong's prison system is, until our landmark report, an almost entirely hidden yet pivotal aspect of the regime's crushing of #FreedomofExpression in HK and part of a wider system of repression that seeks to silence democracy advocates wherever they may be through #TransnationalRepression.
Our President @MarkLClifford called for @UN_SPExperts to demand independent access to Hong Kong's prisons, and called on British and other democratic lawmakers to demand access to their citizens — not least #JimmyLai, himself a victim of most of the last five years spent alone in a tiny windowless cell.

. @TonyChungHonLam, who carries a HK$1 million bounty from #HK national security police, is alongside @jameswnaish delivering his testimony of the physical and sexual abuse that was targeted at political prisoners like him during his unjust detention, including month-long solitary confinement and medical neglect leading to widespread infection of his cell mates as well as officers neglecting to provide hospital care to an epilepsy sufferer.

Many thanks to our Patron @jameswnaish for tabling a written question to @ukhomeoffice on how the proposed ILR requirements would impact #BNO children. We are committed to continue working together to ensure BNOs are exempt from the new requirements.

🚨 UPDATE on #BNO campaign: @ShabanaMahmood of @ukhomeoffice today stated that the new B2 English language requirement for settlement will go into effect from 26 March 2027, a year later than proposed. This is a positive step forward for over 50% of BNOs due to apply for settled status by 2027.
We will continue to advocate for the original terms of the BNO scheme to be retained, as promised by @GOVUK. #StandByBNOs #NoBrokenPromises

This speech has annoyed all the right people.
So to wind them up further, this gay, bible-bashing Christian wishes all Muslims here and across our country, Ramadan Mubarak.
