New: Over 100 MPs have signed an amendment to the Representation of the People Bill calling for a national commission into electoral reform.

The amendment, tabled by the chair of the APPG for Fair Elections Alex Sobel, has been signed by 72 Labour back benchers.

Electoral Reform has taken on a new significance recently in light of support from potential leadership contenders: Andy Burnham said this weekend he is "committed to proportional representation".

The bill's third reading is expected in mid-to-late June (possibly later).
