๐ป "I've spoken to families whose babies have died, whose pregnancies have ended in loss, only to then open their phone to be confronted with adverts for prams, baby clothes, and pregnancy products."
My interview with @BBCNottingham on Meta pushing harmful ads โคต๏ธ
Families navigating baby loss often turn to online spaces for support and connection; it is unacceptable for those same spaces to magnify distress through insensitive advertising.
Following our letter, I spoke to BBC News about Meta pushing out harmful unwanted ads to bereaved families ๐ฅ
Alongside key charities and organisations, Andy MacNae MP and I recently wrote to Meta highlighting the distress they are causing bereaved parents through their advertising practices.
This is about dignity, and those navigating baby loss should not be re-traumatised through Meta's algorithms.

Child exploitation must never be ignored, hidden, or dismissed.
When I was a Nottinghamshire County councillor, I repeatedly asked where child exploitation was taking place, who it was affecting, and how widespread it was. Those questions were met with resistance instead of transparency.

Tonight's Panorama programme on maternity failures is a stark reminder of the suffering endured by too many families here in Nottinghamshire.

๐จ BIG ANNOUNCEMENT FOR HUCKNALL ๐จ
Today the application process for the Chair of the #Hucknall Pride in Place Board has officially opened.
This is a huge moment for our town. With ยฃ20 million of government investment coming into Hucknall, local people will help decide where that investment goes.
โ This funding is different. The decisions will not be made by me and they will not be made by Ashfield District Council - they will be made by the people of Hucknall.
Pride in Place is about you, your family, your neighbours and your community. It is about the Hucknall of today and the Hucknall we want to build for future generations.
โน๏ธ Information regarding applications for the Chair position can be found here: https://t.co/j3PAgKJSxL

@carole1418@jamesmurray_ldn Humbled to be the first maternity advisor to the government. As a girl from a council estate who started her life working in elderly care and a harmed mother - I do feel honoured and humbled to have this role.
Together we are clear that change must happen โ and that it will.
I was humbled and honoured to meet with @jamesmurray_ldn the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care as the countryโs first National Maternity Advisor.
It is about accountability. It is about safer staffing. It is about listening to families. And it is about building a maternity system where good professionals are supported to be great professionals โ and where speaking up is encouraged, not feared.
The voices of families who have suffered harm must never be ignored again.
We move forward with determination and hope.
Women and families deserve the best possible maternity & neonatal services. Far too many have been left hurt and heartbroken by failures in those services. We are determined to change that.
I will make sure that work continues, with @MichelleWelshMP as our new Maternity Adviser.

๐ดBreaking News - Appointed as Government's National Maternity Advisor
Today, I am honoured to announce that I have been appointed as the National Maternity Advisor to the Government.
This role is deeply personal to me. Before I was a politician, I was - and always will be - a mother. Like far too many women across this country, I know what it feels like to come through childbirth carrying both physical and emotional scars. That experience has shaped me, driven me, and strengthened my determination to fight for safer, more compassionate maternity care for every family.
