Just voted for myself! They ran out of "I Voted" stickers so we had to take "Future Voter" ones. Still relevant since I plan on voting next time too!

While the @bcndp and @BCNDPCaucus is looking at revising the rights of pets and pet owners, I really wish they'd prioritize the right to actually have and live with pets in the first place!

I'm stoked that @NikiSharma2@Dave_Eby and the @bcndp are looking at pet custody in divorces, but I'd rather that they finally act on Vancouver Council's unanimous call to ban "no-pets" clauses in rentals
The BC govt is still just ignoring this
#Vancouver#HousingCrisis#bcpoli
The City of Vancouver doesn't have the power to enforce this on their own. It has to be a decision from the Provincial Government. It's already illegal in other provinces (Ontario) to discriminate against pets in rentals. We should do the same in BC!

@sarahkirby_yung@leehaber@gastown@PeterMeiszner@BrianVMontague@LennyNanZhou@MikeKlassen I was at this event and very nearly chose to duck out of the group picture, when I spotted that a sitting ABC councilor was wearing a thin blue line patch. I'm now really regretting that I didn't have the courage to do so.
It's gross, and ABC should be ashamed of this.
@seanorr I was at the event where this was taken, and spotted this and was extremely uncomfortable. I guess that's who Vancouver wanted to elect, and that's really gross.
I know you folks tried to tackle this a few years ago, but I assume it went nowhere?

Did this turn out to be a provincial issue (@BowinnMa) or a City of Vancouver (@kennedystewart) one?

HISTORIC WIN: @CityOfVancouver has just voted YES on a motion to fund legal action to #SueBigOil! #YVR joins a growing global movement of local govs demanding top polluters pay their fair share of #ClimateCosts. Full reaction: https://t.co/3O5u2llpKh #bcpoli#ClimateLitigation
Way to go @CityofVancouver for taking this great step for #ClimateJustice! Funding set aside for this initiative is a fraction of what the city will be (& is already) spending to respond to #climate impacts. Time for polluters to pay their share https://t.co/exUBqh7Y1H #SueBigOil
If I could distill the @BCGreens and @CanadianGreens platform and philosophy into a single article, it'd be this:
And yet somehow we get pegged as "niche", and not seen to have as broad an ideology as the Libs, Cons, NDP, etc.

It's odd how voters treat parties, and how they tend to punish the behaviour that we often say that we want from parties (working together, civility, less toxicity).
I do wonder if this will backfire on the @NDP as an organization, in the same way it has for everyone else.
I'm very happy about the CASA (Confidence and Supply Agreement) between the @NDP and @liberal_party because I want parties to work collaborative together but...
Virtually every time two parties have worked together the smaller party has been punished by voters for it.

In 2015 in the UK the Liberal Democrats were almost obliterated after partnering with the Conservatives. And in New Zealand the New Zealand First party was totally wiped out after partnering with Labour. The Irish Greens were wiped out in 2011 after joining in a coalition too.
I want more #Vancouver-ites to be aware that our elected Council doesn't actually control our own police force or its budget.
That shocked me when I learned it last year.

We're living through the nightmare that is a 40-year legacy of neoliberal capitalism. And our political leadership blindly follows its worst assumption: that the govt cannot tell industry what to do. We urgently need a new political class that understands what's at stake.
