At @BayouEnergy we've connected ~200k utility accounts across America - what data insights would be most interesting as you build your energy products?
โก Reliability of Getting Utility Data
- Which utilities change bill formats most often?
- When do utility websites typically go down?
- Which are hardest to get data from reliably?
๐ Utility Data Availability
- Which utilities actually have interval data (and at what granularity)?
- How many days behind is consumption data at each utility?
- How common/large are smart meter data gaps?
๐ Converting More Customers
- What % of customers need MFA at each utility?
- How long before customers need to re-authenticate?
- Where do customers drop off - bad passwords or MFA fatigue?
Some questions get
started:
๐ฐEnergy Affordability
- What are customers actually paying per kWh by utility (not published rates)?
- Which configurations get to lowest bills (solar + TOU + VPP + retail choice)?
- Which utilities have the biggest gap in peak / off-peak pricing?
Another big statement against the Senate bill.
The trade union representing 860,000 electrical workers says the bill will cost "hundreds of thousands of good-paying construction jobs."
I hadn't seen this statement reported anywhere else.
There's a reason that the largest construction workers union in America called Senate Republicans' bill "the biggest job killing bill in our country's history."
It would lead to mass layoffs in every state in some of the fastest-growing sectors of our economy.
China added more solar in ONE year than the US has in FORTY. This bill sets America back even further. It cripples our ability to lower energy costs, re-shore manufacturing or dominate AI.
Voting margins are tight and you may know someone who knows someone with access.
The Senate reconvenes Monday. We may have just today (Sunday) to make some noise. Pick from pre-written messages and post with 1-click on your platform of choice ๐ https://t.co/uNQKe0MILH

@ben8128@drvolts Can (while addressing the elephant in the room of this reality) you and David talk about the best way to accelerate the speed of letting clean energy win given the landscape we have today (specifically in the US) which is very state / regional specific.
@ben8128@drvolts Purely on techno economics - clean energy + DERโs win. But (at least in the US) the ability for these things to win is dependent on heavily regulated electricity markets and actors with incentives aligned against this. Davidโs talked a lot about public utility commissions.
@QuincyEdmundLee A few inputs to a solution here:
- Energy Interval usage from your charger logs, this might be good enough, utility meter intervals would compliment that as โtrue costโ
- What tariff the chargers utility meter is on
- Mapping intervals / cost based on tariff

@mission_data Based on what Iโve heard a contractor needs to find an inspector thatโs willing to do a trial run, then have them go through the actual work, write up a report that theyโre willing to share and sign off on again.
Thisโs standardized /other methods so wed need something similar
