@JonBaiano1@KodyDuncanPGH That’s not even remotely true for OBP. Plenty of guys with high averages and average to below average OBPs because they don’t walk. It’s luck based because he doesn’t hit the ball hard. It can work because he has speed, but he’s relying on things like infield hits.
@LetMeTalkToYaa1@DHerbertyinz@11Shaggy77@KodyDuncanPGH Right. We went 1-17 with RISP, so Mangum isn’t an issue. Neither is Ozuna or Triolo. We have bigger issues, so don’t talk about individual players. Is that how we do it?
@DHerbertyinz@11Shaggy77@KodyDuncanPGH He doesn’t walk though. He barely gets on above average and frequently comes up short in big moments because he swings at everything
@PerkinsPenguins@DHerbertyinz@11Shaggy77@KodyDuncanPGH Watched too many situations where in a big moment he either grounds into a DP, or he heats a weak grounder to a drawn in infield. He’ll take or foul any pitch he gets over the heart of the plate, and weakly hit the pitches 6 inches out of the zone.
@11Shaggy77@KodyDuncanPGH It’s accidental in the sense that he’s not trying to get weak contact. He’s trying to get contact period. He’s proven to not take walks and have no discipline, so pitchers can live out of the zone. I don’t think his aim is weak contact. It’s a result of reaching out of the zone
@KodyDuncanPGH We should have better. Not a guy that chases constantly and only keeps a high average because he gets a ton of accidental weak contact. There. Explained. I don’t even want him as a 4th outfielder.
