Great to join West Ham Sea Cadets this week for their awards parade.

Delighted to see that hard work being recognised and receiving the prestigious Cleverly Award, a national honour awarded annually to the top-performing Junior Section within the UK Sea Cadets.

Update on the Canning Town Station escalator after my joint letter with Cllr Rohit Dasgupta to Deputy London Mayor Seb Dance.

The good news is repairs have started on the main escalator between the tube station & bus station. It should be working again by the end of the month.

I met with Tideaway which has been a massive project to improve the sewage systems and clean up the river.

It has had a big impact on our constituency through its connection to Beckton sewage treatment works.

I recently met up with the Newham Chinese Association.

We discussed translation services and making sure the elders had the relevant support they need. It was good to have a catch up - thank you so much for the cake!

@Go_Ahead_London Silvertown depot serves routes all across East London.

Most of the vehicles are now electric and they use impressive tech to get repairs and maintenance done quicker. I also heard about the plans to fit HVAC units to mitigate against future heatwaves.

I attended Bridging Barriers’ celebration evening. We heard from mentees about the opportunities that @BrdgingBarriers has provided and celebrated the mentors for their time and work supporting young people.

I had a lovely sunny Sunday going around the constituency visiting play streets and street parties.

There were bouncy castles, DJs, arts and crafts and chances for kids to play safely and for everyone to chat to their neighbours.

I was in Silvertown this week to visit Gee & Ivan at The Tate Institute

Built as the social club for sugar refinery workers. It was a valued community space but has been empty for years

REinsTate are restoring the building in a sustainable way, bringing it back to the community

September is childhood cancer awareness month🎗️

30 families every week will receive the devastating news that their child has cancer. 20% of those children will not survive that diagnosis.

I joined MPs & Peers in writing to the Foreign Secretary about the targeting LGBT+ community by the Turkish Government including detentions, raids & blocking of websites.

It’s important the UK acts to condemn the actions & make urgent representations to the Turkish Government.

@EastsideCH received their National Archives accreditation, a huge achievement!

ECH are preserving the memories of people whose lives should not be overlooked or forgotten just because they didn't take place in grand buildings but on ordinary streets in East London.

When we first met, I told the Palestinian Ambassador @hzomlot of the strength of feeling in Newham and today he was able to see the scale of that support for himself.

This morning I was at Scott Wilkie’s Breakfast Club with Minister Paul Waugh.

Free Breakfast Clubs mean that kids are starting their day fed and ready to learn and improvements to School Food Standards will make those breakfasts more balanced and healthier.

It is time the Canning Town Station escalator was fixed.

This disruption is causing serious inconvenience. It can’t be left out-of-service & TfL have given no date for when it will be repaired.

I have written, with Cllr Rohit Dasgupta, asking for timeline & date of completion.

Where have you been this summer?

I’ve been flying airplane simulators, playing badminton with The Mayor, meeting emergency services, marching in London Pride, running a summer school, cheering on dragon boats and climbers and helping constituents.

Basically I’ve been busy!

This week I attended an event celebrating 35 years of independence of the Republic of Moldova.

We have a significant Moldovan population in West Ham and Beckton. Thank you to the ambassador Ruslan Bolbocean for the invite to this event.

There’s no future without children and in Gaza, 20,000 children were killed. Tens of thousands who survived despite the odds are without protection or access to medical aid. Thank you to the Foreign Minister for his promise to work to give those children the future they deserve.
