I can help you out. It’s 100 weeks of consistent work.
I know, you’re all conditioned to believe in 28 day transformations. But that’s fake internet bullshit.
All that really works is what James did. You show up every day, and you progress a little every time. Most people give up before they get to the real transformation. He didn’t. And that’s why I am proud of him.
I was on the MiLB broadcast talking Arnold and Transformation! They told me it was radio! I was on air for about 15 minutes!!! We talked, Arnold, transformation mindset, Canadian baseball and the Blue Jays. Here is a snippet. Will share more.
When you calculate the money spent on crappy food or in my case - medicine - to survive a unhealthy lifestyle. If you reinvest that money in your health, great things will happen.
I used to spend all day Saturday in bed, there wasn’t much to get out of bed for in those days, except my cat. At 400lbs+ it wasn’t easy to get out of bed. DoorDash meant I certainly didn’t have to leave my apartment. I spent $7k on doordash in 2020, which contributed to the $60k in credit card debt. I certainly didn’t have a girlfriend, just the cat.
Today I’ve been out of bed since before dawn, downstairs with little man letting my wife sleep in since little man woke up at 7. Mostly off my phone (working on it 😅), no screen time for little man. Hosting my sister for Memorial Day weekend, something I never could have done in that 300 square foot studio apartment I started out in Baltimore. I certainly wouldn’t have done at 400lbs+ when I was single, alone and in a dark place.
Never give up.
You can do it. I can do it. We can do it.
On May 24, I’ll be joining the Syracuse Mets as Honorary Captain and step into the broadcast booth to talk baseball, transformation, and second chances. Huge thank you to MLB and the Little League Disaster Relief Fund for believing in transformation, community, and second chances.
See you in Syracuse. ⚾

@Fandango I agree. Sadly my last experience at @CineplexMovies left me with the feeling that theatres no longer care. When we are in the “moment” the projector cannot break. If it does happen, theatres need to do everything possible to win back the trust of that moment. Not just hit rewind
Good weather. Baseball. A long weekend.
Still trying to process this MLB experience and everything that came with it.
Life can still surprise you if you keep showing up for yourself.
Dear @CineplexMovies
I’ve been going to movie theatres for 50 years. The single-screen theatre. The drive-in. The multiplex. I love them all. But last night made me understand why people are stopping. My wife and I went to see The Devil Wears Prada 2. During the critical “Last Supper” scene, the screen went black. Audio only. We told management. Their response? “Oh, not again.” That was it.
Then they restarted the movie several scenes earlier, forcing the audience to rewatch scenes while all the emotional momentum disappeared.
No apology. No free passes. No acknowledgment.
People left grumbling.
Movie theatres keep asking audiences to “save the theatrical experience.” But the theatrical experience is more than a screen. It’s immersion. It’s trust. It’s magic.
If audiences are paying: $15 tickets $10 popcorn Parking 30 minutes of commercials
Then theatres have a responsibility to make the experience worth leaving home for. Because right now? Netflix doesn’t rewind itself during the climax of a movie.
If film-makers and theatre owners want audiences to come back, customer experience can’t be optional. #movietwitter #filmtwitter #cinema
I gave Derek Shelton a Minnesota Pearl Jam gift and his reaction said everything.
He’s not just a fan—he’s a true superfan. His office is filled with memorabilia, autographed guitars, and years of memories following the band. His favourite track? “Better Man.” And yes—he’s even met Eddie Vedder in Chicago.
That kind of passion isn’t small—it’s contagious.
When a leader openly cares about something beyond the game, it gives everyone around them permission to care more too. Players feel it. Staff feel it. Even visitors walking into that clubhouse feel it. It builds culture. It builds connection. It reminds you that behind the title, behind the wins and losses, there’s a real person—and that authenticity travels.
And a great detail—Shelton’s father is Ronald Shelton, sharing the same name as Ron Shelton, the man behind Bull Durham. Baseball, storytelling, music—it all ties together.
At the highest level of Minnesota Twins baseball, passion still matters.

Congrats Nick on your work. Share your story. People need to hear - first - it is possible and - second - that life opens up in new ways that we never thought possible. You are the example of that. People need to hear it.
@JamesforMarkham Amazing, James! My weight loss journey is much like yours... I just never found the words or enough courage to put it out there to help and inspire others. Keep it up, brother!
A Major League Baseball manager asked me for my autograph…
In the dugout.
In front of 30,000 fans.
But that’s not the story.
The story is this:
I know what it feels like to carry 300+ lbs.
To feel stuck.
To start over again.
To say “this time will be different” and then fall back.
There were days I didn’t want to move.
Days I chose the ice cream.
Days I felt like I was too far gone.
This moment didn’t come from motivation.
It came from doing the hard things when I didn’t feel like it.
Quietly. Repeatedly. Imperfectly.
If you’re in that place right now—
You’re not behind. You’re not done.
Start small. Stay in it. Stack the days.
👉 I wrote my books for that version of you.

Walked into an MLB clubhouse with a Pearl Jam gift for Derek Shelton.
His reaction? That’s what passion looks like.
Not a casual fan—a superfan. He’s got Pearl Jam memorabilia all over his office. No matter how big the stage gets character doesn’t change.

It was an honor to meet Derek Shelton today and present him with a Minnesota Pearl Jam license plate. Thank you to the Little League Disaster Relief Fund and @mlb@Twins
