Tweeting has been an interesting experience this semester. Honestly while I have discovered some interesting things I am still not sure how much I will use twitter yet. I will keep my account open for a little while before I decide.
@crites_tiffany This amendment is wonderful and a great step in the right direction to protect our youth. I hope that steps like this continue to protect our youn children. The already are going through enough just discovering themselves.
@crites_tiffany It is sad that issues like this like many others still happens. I know there will never be a 100% fix to any of these issues I just hope that we can get the rates down even more.
@Jennife38738348 I have been seeing a lot of posts regarding homelessness and this is a growing problem where I live. With our Salvation Army closing the men's, women and children's shelters here organizations have been putting together places for people to stay.
@StaceyFontaine3 I agree with Christine. I hope this is something we can keep up with because this is something that will affect some day. It would be nice if things are easier for us when we get to be that older generation.
I agree those factors should never be used to determine if you have protection from violence. Everyone should have that security to know they are protected from being in a violent relationship.
@JamieBeedle2 I find it challenging for someone who is bisexual and in a heterosexual marriage. Freedom of expression and orientation should be free from violence.
I agree. Things like that should not matter violence against a partner is violence and victims need to be protected. There personal preferences on how they recognize themselves or who they choose as a partner should never play a factor in this. Protecting the victims matters
@JamieBeedle2 With women still in the minority, protecting violence against women in any way, shape, or form needs to be continued. I am concerned about the transgender population and hope that there are no issues extending protection to them.
In a 2014 article of Woman's Health it discussed the definition of intimate partner violence and how it affects the victims. The impact VAWA has made and how the rate of violence against women has decreased and with the protection victims have.
With the protection women have they are able to report the violence and know there are provisions in pace to help them. The article discussed the preventions and interventions put into place and there is still improvements that can be made
My policy problem was the effectiveness of the Violence Against Women Act. This policy was enacted in 1994 and has been reauthorized each time it came up except for this last year even with the extension. Each time it was reauthorized it added much needed provisions.
An example of this would be to include intimate partners, same gender couples, transgenders, immigrants and so on. The rate of victims has gone down since 1994, but with the stall on reauthorization programs can not be funded unless they were already approved.
How may of us are guilty of not getting enough sleep on a regular basis? Work, sleep, errands, studying..... we all have endless lists everyday but are we taking care of ourselves in the mean time?
This is something we need to be more aware of because we don't know the battles someone close to us may be going through. It is easy to plaster a smile on our face and appear happy, but what is is going on in the inside??
This is something that also hits home to me. I don't think that many parents take this seriously and just brush this off as the kids just being emotional teenagers and not really looking at the situation seriously. Brushing of these concerns can have tragic results....
