@StaceyFontaine3 I was really impressed with how many organizations and resources are available on Twitter, having never really utilized it before. It has the possibility to be a great networking resource.
@SW_NM_Advocate I agree, Nancy. I think Twitter is a great way to learn about issues and advocate for social issues. It has been enlightening this semester.
@kgrelefordswp You have provided us with an abundance of information and resources this semester! I've learned so much! Thank you so very much for an incredible semester! Have a wonderful summer!
Twitter provides the chance for connections with different advocates, organizations, as well as political parties, & more. It allows knowledge and info to be passed around & in the SW profession, you have to stay currrent w/ what is going on. I plan to utilize SM as much as I can
@crites_tiffany The statistics in this article are heartbreaking. 4 times more likely to be sexually abused and 20 times more likely to experience physical abuse. It is good to see this amendment taking place. While it won't eradicate the abuse unfortunately, it does provide some protection.
@JamieBeedle2 I think that most policies can always benefit from improvements. Being very specific as to what abuse is, what effects it has on a person, and what one can do if they find themselves in that situation is very important information to share. Do you have the link to this article?
VP of Policy & Programs for the National Alliance to End Homelessness Steve Berg, wrote an article summarizing the key points of programs of the McKinney-Vento Act, including their official definition of homeless & statical info for the # of individuals provided housing yearly.
The McKinney-Vento Act was introduced in the late 1980s and remains the first and largest federal policy to address the social issue of homelessness. It provides services and resources to those in urgent need of housing, educational resources for youth, and much more.
@StaceyFontaine3 Ageism is such an issue in America, it is great that policies such as these exist. Can you elaborate a little of the differences the OAA has made?
@SW_NM_Advocate Sexuality should not even be a factor in this matter. It's a shame that a bill such as this even has to be proposed!! However, with that being stated, hopefully this bill will be passed and further advance their human rights.
I found this article to be interesting. A predictive software that aids in eviction prevention? Would resources such as these act as preventative measures for those potentially at risk of becoming homeless? Thoughts?
In the newest blog in the @homelesshub "So What?" series, Abe Oudshoorn explores a study on eviction prevention – finding that areas using predictive software saw a 50% increase in families connecting with services. https://t.co/D4Ze1kdlVp

I will never not share potential solutions to end homelessness. If other countries can change their focus to address this crisis, so can America. #endhomelessness
Housing is a human right, but a lack of #affordablehousing leaves many ppl unhoused. 3 things can change this: 1. money to finance housing development
2. land to build 3. organizational capacity to take action.
Here's how Canada can make this happen: https://t.co/u3WvNfp0aG
