My suspicion is that Trump gave tacit approval for the Israeli strikes and will now play good cop.

Look, I’d hit them harder. But Trump is not insane here. He’s actually got a real chance for an outcome that’s not negative for us. My bias is to kill all the jihadis, but he is not crazy with his plan to use non-military elements of national power to win this.
