@jowhiley just checking whether it’s Mon or Thurs next week for the traditional start to Christmas? Christmas starts with “When the Thames froze” @smithandburrows
@CommonFarm1 I had the same thought today when I woke up to rain. St. Swithin's day if thou dost rain, for forty days it will remain. St. Swithin's day if thou be fair, for forty days 'twill rain nae mair
@Grant_Colgate Grant, you talk a lot of sense a lot of the time. Just not on this matter. S&V crisps are the best - when considering regular crisps and all that. Different ball game if we go down the wormhole of frazzles, nik naks, monster munch etc.
@sarajcox Bored at school one day, aged 14 or so. By that age I really should have known better. I took the bulb out of a lamp and stuck my finger in to see what would happen. Naturally, I was thrown halfway across the room and I’ve had a very healthy respect for electricity ever since!
@Grant_Colgate Btw - I grew up in a house called Morningwood (the wood put on the fire in the morning to reignite it - to clarify for those whose minds might be elsewhere!). When we moved, the new owners renamed it as Morningside.
@bt_uk appalling service. Elderly parents live in the country with no mobile reception. You replaced their phone lines so land line is now via Wi-Fi. Mobiles calls when attached to Wi-Fi are appalling when upstairs yet you refuse to provide boosters. Age prejudice?
@suebeesley You wouldn’t believe the timing. When going to bed last night I began to feel a bit off and I checked my resting HR. Yep, elevated compared to normal. And today I wake up with a cold!
@suebeesley Yep, I do. I wear a Garmin watch and when I start to feel under the weather I look at the previous couple of days of resting heart rate figures. If it’s up against my norm I know I’m coming down with something, and i get on the vitamin C etc. hope you continue to get better.
