Practice is:
Getting out of your comfort zone
Adversity
Discomfort
Preparation
Asking questions
Learning all you can
Failure
Challenges
Practice isn’t:
Just showing up
Waiting for the whistle
Complaining
Asking why me
Being too cool to work
Thinking “I’ll do it when it matters”
So we're clear, what Jon Scheyer is doing on the recruiting trail at #Duke is NOT normal.
Top class in 2022 and now the top class in 2023.
Not normal. Not normal.
Balance Shooting
Focusing on covering distance with our last 2 steps, and finding a solid base to quickly lift in to our shot.
* Progression is to add pass, then add a defender chasing
Players have 2 choices: Either pout or prepare. Whether you play or don’t play, whether you win or lose, you will never regret working hard, making commitments, being disciplined or focusing too much. These skills not only prepare you for your game, but will prepare you for life!
Soft people will always let you down. It’s always someone else’s fault, there is always an excuse, and they can’t take responsibility. If there’s one thing 19 years of college coaching has taught me... you need talent but you need toughness more. Everyone is replaceable.
Have to share my Delly experience… I was with the Cavs in 2013-14. Delly was a part of our summer league team as an undrafted player.
The general feeling of the coaching staff at SL was “nothing more will come of it but we have to invite Delly to training camp, right?”
So now we can see Scott Foster just give every call imaginable to Giannis…who’s already the best player in the series without the sometimes blatant assistance….
BAD teams never talk
AVERAGE teams talk when they're winning
GOOD teams talk often
GREAT teams never stop talking
CHAMPIONSHIP teams always talk about talking more... in huddles, at halftime, in time outs!
