Hynix Wii U owners. I would be interested in gathering some numbers about how many are actually experiencing problems.
I extended the Wii U Crash Log Dumper to scan for past problems in the logs. (Please ignore all non MLC errors)

With the recent ISFShax updates, make sure to delete old plugins in ios_plugins, since file names changed. Also keep in mind that it will now try to load the fw.img first from SD before loading it from SLC.
@Mathieulh@bruceleroy417@Nintendo Also there is no SD2MLC, it would be MLC2SD and it is not the same as nand-aid. The one in the picture is a nand-aid, but a very cheaply made one (see how unclean it is cut on the left)
@W00fer@Mathieulh@bruceleroy417@Nintendo@Gary Also Nintendo fixed consoles with that problem pretty late (I think until they ran out of spares) long outside warranty. I mean there is enough about to critique about Nintendo, but this all just sounds uninformed.
@W00fer@Mathieulh@bruceleroy417@Nintendo@Gary Also I would like to know where the claim is coming from that Nintendo knowingly used bad eMMC. I never saw anything indicating that they knew it. And I would expect that they would just have rejected the eMMCs from Hynix and then it would have been Hynix problem.
@W00fer@Mathieulh@bruceleroy417@Nintendo@Gary But even if ut used system fonts, it would be a completely sane thing to do, since the recovery was never made to deal with that corruption. It was mainly to fix CBHC bricks.
@JMorganArtist@RetroBlastUS You don't need to solder if it is still in the state. If you wait too long, it might degrade further. For ISFShax you can just follow the guide. After you have ISFShax, you can relax.
@JMorganArtist@RetroBlastUS OK, if it still does this, then you should be good (if the firmware is 5.5.x).
You can install ISFShax through the UDPIH method. With ISFShax you are then safe, even if the corruption gets worse, it gives us a way to run code, even if the eMMC failed completely. From the you can
@retrofrito@RetroBlastUS Not all consoles will experience that, just some consoles of the ones having a hynix.
Also this can be fixed, if you are willing to spend a little time. After you fixed the first one, the rest will be easy.
@RetroBlastUS This Wii U can be fixed, without soldering. (No I am not talking about setting the CB Title in the recovery). Since UDPIH still works we can reinstall the system on a SD with redNAND. Fixed dozens of these over the past year.
@JMorganArtist@RetroBlastUS It can be fixed, but it might need soldering, depending on the exact state it is in. Does it still show something on the TV or do you only have the Quickstart menu on the tablet?
@Fiery_Blowhog @RetroBlastUS There are proper fixes, but these aren't just plugging it in or making a backup.
Also the chip shown, isn't the one going bad.
If you are interested in making a factual post, I am happy to give you some resources or help you with that.
I am not against you
@Fiery_Blowhog @RetroBlastUS No one is saying, this isn't happening. But we know this problem is caused by bad hynix chips in particular. And plugging the console in most likely does nothing, but wear out other components. There is also no evidence that turning it on and having it running for some time helps
@Fiery_Blowhog @RetroBlastUS It's not about being salty, it's just painful to see how the same misinformation gets spread over and over by people with reach, while geniue informations gets buried.
And it's not like he wasn't told last time...
Now we get all the "news" articles again quoting him as an expert
@ilua_linerin@Voultar You might want to look into SDUSB.
To use more than 64GB with NAND-AID, you would need ISFShax anyway and at that point SDUSB or redNAND is the easier solution.
@Revision_124c41@Voultar No, why would you take the risk messing up a working system, just to get a memory which is probably inferior in this use case. The eMMC is made to run an OS from it. An SD is not.
