Humans have caused 90% of fires this year in Oregon. We can all make a difference. Remember: never leave outdoor fires unattended, and make sure you put them out completely. https://t.co/1a6gX212yx
OK there has been a ton of Eugene-area news today, so, thread:
Today, Oregon Sen. @RonWyden introduced the national CAHOOTS Act, named after Eugene's crisis response program through @WhiteBirdClinic, which responds to mental health calls instead of police.

@OregonGovBrown Your last minute “reversal” is a 1st step to reduce risk of Covid19 from raging thru our overcrowded prisons. But unless you move quickly to release more than the 100 who meet your criterion, your effort is merely a window dressing & basically useless.
The risk of those inmates contracting Covid19 has multiplied significantly.
GovBrown’s last minute “reversal” is a 1st tiny step to reduce the overcrowded prisons.Unless she moves quickly to release more nonthreatening inmates, her effort is merely a distraction of the real issue.

Governor Brown’s very last minute “reversal” is a great 1st (tiny) step to reducing
but those that had to turn their bunks are For example, Powder River Correctional Facility has “social distanced” sleeping quarters by reversing direction of every other bunk. The bunks are ~3 feet apart. That is better for every other inmate whose bunk stays facing the wall,

I am grateful those most vulnerable to the virus will be relocated before the spike hits our prisons. This decision will do next-to-nothing for the remaining inmates. Social distancing will continue to NOT be possible.
There are only ~100 inmates that meet her strict criterion. Except for those 100 inmates who are most vulnerable to the virus, absolutely nothing has changed for the overwhelming number of inmates left in Oregon’s over-crowded prisons.
The headlines of every article and newsfeed regarding Governor Brown’s so-called “reversal” of her previous position of not releasing inmates early due to the pandemic ravaging through prisons east of us is terribly misleading.
