McLennan county schools deserve the choice for safely reopening plans according to @teainfo and @uiltexas guidelines. Our school leaders are more than capable of handling this.

It’s National Counselor’s week and the Academics department wants to say THANK YOU to the Ms. Fattig @MdecaTISD for all you do to care for our students and staff! We are so grateful for you! @a_necessary
People are already talking about Sound of Freedom and the impact it is leaving on them.
We want to hear from you. After you see Sound of Freedom in theaters, record your thoughts and go to the community tab in the Angel App, and leave your impression.

If we put kids in the driver’s seat in their own education a little more, this would happen. They would want to be there instead of hating learning. 👇🏼
A school imagined by the 14 year old homeschooler I tutor in English
School day from 8-3:
The first 30-40 minutes of the day are a "wake up" or a free period - do whatever to get your mind right for the day
Then everyone goes outside —> All learning is done outdoors
What about during winter? The rooms have lots of windows so natural light can come in
The students learn just the basics of the core subjects - just as much as you need for life - no fluff or extra unnecessary bits
-Lots of art classes
-Language classes
-Lots of Gym/Physical ed classes
-Tons of passion-based classes and passion-discovery classes
-Life skills: How to interact with peers
-Growing your social intelligence --> How to keep a conversation going - According to her, too many people her age are socially awkward
Interestingly enough... these are all public schoolers...
She says they are too focused on what others think and its not good for them
She also said there should be classes to teach us how to think before we speak
Lastly: the school NEEDS to serve real food
What do you think of the vision for her school?
I had the privilege of interviewing with my friend Rhonda Burnell of @copperascoveisd at @kwtx on the importance of mental health supports for safer schools. Working together makes us all stronger for our kids. 🌟
Enjoyed a visit @kwtx with @taryndcour@JanekJeni & Rhonda yesterday. Jeni and Rhonda talked about mental health and SEL and the relation to school safety. The interview will be part of a special safety segment this afternoon.
Gov Abbott talks to a mom that has disabled child. He told her that “school choice” would take care of her child’s needs. Not true. SB 8 says “a private school is not subject to state and local laws regarding the provision of educational services to a child with a disability”.
@OttTempleISD I’m a proud parent of two Texas public school graduates. Even if I were given a stipend that could have changed that, I would not. My children are better people because of what they learned from their school.
I have enjoyed serving @tspra as the West Central VP and appreciate Taina Maya @KilleenISD_ for serving as our zone coordinator. I look forward to seeing the great work that incoming VP Wendy Sledd @copperascoveisd will do in the role! #TSPRA2023
