The newly adopted dog never stopped looking back the entire way, as if desperately trying to remind his new family that his blind brother had been left behind, completely alone, and that they had to turn around.
It had all begun when a couple, Thomas and his wife, decided to adopt a dog. Their home was spacious, their garden was lush, and their hearts were entirely open to welcoming a new life. As they stepped into the animal shelter, a volunteer guided them toward the enclosures. There, in a large space, lay two magnificent black Labradors, curled up and pressed tightly against each other.
One possessed bright, intelligent eyes. "That's Leo," the volunteer explained. Beside him, his brother’s gaze was fixed and vacant. "And this is Toby. He has been blind since birth. He has never seen the world, but he senses it entirely through his brother. They were born together and have never been apart."
Leo was gently leaning against Toby, touching him to reassure him. Deeply moved by Leo's noble, protective spirit, the couple decided to adopt him. They filled out the paperwork, at first misinterpreting the anxious, heartbreaking glances the dog kept casting toward the brother he was leaving behind.
Once settled on the back seat of the car, Leo sat in absolute, heavy silence. His head was tilted backward, his eyes fixed on the shelter as it slowly faded into the distance. His tail did not wag even once. Looking at him through the rearview mirror, the painful reality suddenly struck the wife: Toby hadn't just lost his eyes—he had lost his guide, his comfort, his entire universe.
"Thomas," she said, her voice trembling with emotion. "We left Toby."
Thomas caught her eye in the mirror. His expression mirrored her heartbreak. "I know. I was thinking about it too."
Without a second thought, they turned the car around. Thirty minutes later, they walked back through the doors of the shelter. Seeing them return specifically for Toby, the volunteer's eyes welled with deep emotion.
Back in the enclosure, the poor blind dog was wandering hesitantly, completely disoriented and lost without his brother. But the moment Toby was brought to the car, pure magic happened. The two brothers instantly pressed themselves against one another, Toby resting his head on Leo’s back, finally safe, finally at peace.
At home, Leo immediately stepped into his role as his brother’s devoted, gentle guide. He would nudge him softly with his muzzle to show him the way, wait patiently for him in the garden, and watch over him while he slept. Guided by this deeply reassuring presence, Toby slowly gained confidence, learning to explore his new world with absolute serenity.
Today, those two Labradors fill their home with an undeniable light. What seemed like an impulsive decision turned out to be the most beautiful choice of their lives. Leo showed them the true meaning of loyalty and absolute devotion, while Toby reminds them every single day that you can feel the beauty of the world without ever having to see it. Sometimes, turning back really is the only way to move forward in the right direction.

Élevés, nourris, puis abattus : la vérité sur la chasse en enclos

La chasse en enclos est l'une des pratiques les plus cruelles encore autorisées en France. Les animaux détenus dans ces enclos sont élevés et nourris par l'homme dès leur naissance : ils n'ont jamais connu la vie sauvage, sont souvent habitués à la présence humaine, et n'ont donc ni la même méfiance ni les mêmes réflexes de fuite qu'un animal né et grandi en milieu naturel. Ils sont lâchés dans un enclos pour y être traqués et abattus, sans aucune chance de fuite.

La France compterait aujourd'hui environ 1 350 parcs et enclos de chasse, où sont détenus entre 70 000 et 100 000 animaux - sangliers, cerfs, biches, mouflons, daims, faisans -. Mais les derniers chiffres sont très difficiles à obtenir car une grande discrétion entoure cette pratique.

Certains témoignages parlent de chasses où 200 à 300 sangliers et cervidés sont abattus en seulement trois heures, sur des domaines de parfois moins de 150 hectares — un rythme qu'un président de fédération de chasseurs lui-même a qualifié de "massacre". La chasse en enclos est loin de faire l’unanimité parmi les chasseurs.

La chasse en enclos n'a rien à voir avec la nature ou la régulation des populations sauvages : c'est un commerce très lucratif qui transforme des êtres sensibles, élevés par la main de l'homme, en cibles vivantes, sans aucune chance de survie.

Cette pratique légale est pourtant massivement rejetée puisque tous les sondages montrent qu’une écrasante majorité de Français est favorable à l'interdiction de la chasse en enclos.

Récemment, la Fondation Brigitte Bardot a reçu un signalement alarmant concernant un enclos où sont détenus plus d'une trentaine de sangliers, visiblement très amaigris, en bordure de route. Nous avons immédiatement alerté les autorités compétentes afin que des contrôles soient rapidement effectués sur place.

Cette pratique doit cesser, comme en Norvège où elle est strictement interdite, ou encore très limitée dans plusieurs autres pays européens (Autriche, Wallonie etc). Un animal n'est pas un objet de divertissement.

Paige Williams and her partner ran Fur & Filly petcare in West Midlands. They were entrusted on a professional contract for 4 weeks to look after a families two pets, they singled out one of the dogs little Ayrton, not even two years old.
Kicking, shouting, tethering him to a tree with water just out of his reach, when he playfully jumped at them they proceeded to beat him with a lease.
51 clips of abuse the dogs suffered at the hands of this beast of a woman and her partner.
140 hours community service and 7 year ban, thats what the court thought. So we think that just like obi and his fake pet sitting crays hill pet sitters she deserves to be named in her local community and known as an abuser of innocent animals who cant speak up.
Just imagine how many others shes hurt, whose owners didn't have cameras.

Brandi Heathco locked two dogs in a filthy apartment in Daphne, Alabama and left them to starve.

On August 4 officers found the animals extremely malnourished and living in deplorable conditions. One was trapped in a kennel inside a closed bedroom. Both are now in veterinary care fighting multiple serious medical problems.

She is charged with animal cruelty.

This is pure neglect and cruelty. Dogs do not choose their owners. They trust the people who are supposed to feed them and keep them safe. Leaving them locked up and wasting away is evil. Full stop.

Good on Daphne Police and Animal Control for pulling these dogs out. Now make the charge stick.
