My favorite part of this Novella was when Binti called out to her family and her mother was the 1st to respond. Even though Binti and her family were at odds about attending the University. Her family still cared and was there for her. #fys05xu

I found the ending to be very interesting and unexpected. I did not think the Meduse would agree to help Binti. I also thought it was interesting that they killed off everyone of Binti's friends. However, it helped the storyline and character development of Binti. #fys05xu

I found Pumzi to be a very interesting story. Asha risks everything for just a small plant because the earth was destroyed. She is solely determined to bring back vegetation to her destroyed home. I find this to be extremely admirable. #fys05xu

@ava_victor215 Yes, I like that this book will be focusing on several different aspects and ideas. I think there will be a lot going on in this book, with science fiction, magic, all involving Africa Americans.

Binti' personal experience involving the discrimination of her people really shaped her story. "Her people are discriminated against by, well, by everyone, but mostly the Khoush". This just proves how parts of the book can still apply to our world today. #fys05xu

The article described the genre as science fiction. Our main character Binti is headed off to college on a spaceship. She possesses magic from the earth. She is building a new community though Afrofuturism. This allows the reader to grow alongside Binti and her people. #fys05xu

Adiche described her childhood as being happy filled with a close knit family. She was happy despite not having enough food on the table and family members becoming unemployed. #fysxu05

In the ted talk Adiche tells the story of how she became to understand other races, how they were treated, and how even she looked at people as poor, lesser than she as a child. When she came to America for school she to saw how people treat others all over the world. #fysxu05

@ava_victor215 I expected more from the book ending, it was very abrupt. I also agree that we should have seen some of Cath's final writing assignment. It would have added to Cath's character development. #fysxu05
