PAKISTAN: Across Pakistan, students have been at the frontlines of movements for justice, human rights and accountability.
But 42 years of a ban on student unions has restricted their rights to freedom of association, peaceful assembly and expression.
Yet despite every attempt to suppress them, students never stopped organizing, never stopped demanding dignity, and never stopped standing up for their rights.
📢 It’s time to lift the ban on student unions in Pakistan.
✊ Stand with students.

I just received this statement from Leqaa Kordia, sent by her legal team. After nearly a year in ICE detention, she suffered the first seizure of her life. She regained consciousness in a hospital bed with her hands and legs shackled — heavy chains that remained on for three days, even during trips to the bathroom. See screenshots for full statement.
Lebanese authorities say Israeli aircraft sprayed glyphosate herbicide over farmland near the Blue Line, at levels far above normal use. The spraying damaged crops and raised health and environmental concerns, drawing condemnation from officials and UNIFIL.
In case you don’t know this yet; Israel is now spraying cancer-linked herbicide on farms in southern Lebanon. They don’t just bomb and kill people there, they’re also poisoning the land to make it uninhabitable, similar to what they did in the and the West Bank.
Early this morning, Israeli settlers sprayed chemical pesticides on crops in multiple areas of Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, destroying Palestinian-owned farmland.
Today, as Gaza continues to be stuck in a bloody limbo, we are turning our website over to Gaza and its people in an initiative we are calling “A Day for Gaza.” There will be no pieces published on our website today that do not come directly from Gaza. https://t.co/x5yu0SWtHG
Not sure the magnitude of this is fully understood: Israel has wiped out 2,700 families in Gaza, leaving 6,000+ people as the sole survivors of entire bloodlines. This is the result of deliberate policy, pursued with full knowledge of its effects. This is not war. It is genocide.
Umberto Eco, who owned 50,000 books, had this to say about home libraries:
“It is foolish to think that you have to read all the books you buy, as it is foolish to criticize those who buy more books than they will ever be able to read. It would be like saying that you should use all the cutlery or glasses or screwdrivers or drill bits you bought before buying new ones.
“There are things in life that we need to always have plenty of supplies, even if we will only use a small portion.
“If, for example, we consider books as medicine, we understand that it is good to have many at home rather than a few: when you want to feel better, then you go to the ‘medicine closet’ and choose a book. Not a random one, but the right book for that moment. That’s why you should always have a nutrition choice!
“Those who buy only one book, read only that one and then get rid of it. They simply apply the consumer mentality to books, that is, they consider them a consumer product, a good. Those who love books know that a book is anything but a commodity.”
‼️Civil Defense teams in Gaza announced today that they recovered and transferred the bodies of 98 martyrs from Al-Shifa Hospital, including 55 unidentified victims who had been buried inside the hospital grounds during the height of the Israeli occupation's genocide.
The bodies were delivered to forensic authorities and the relevant institutions for formal burial, as crews continued working through the hospital’s courtyards and makeshift graves. Officials say dozens more bodies remain inside the Al-Shifa complex, and recovery efforts will continue in the coming days to ensure every martyr is retrieved and laid to rest with dignity.

Wow: Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention (named for Holocaust survivor Raphael Lemkin, who coined "genocide") calls Clinton's remarks "genocide denial."
"Young people in the US are not stupid or gullible. They simply reject genocide—something the Secretary might consider…"
Israel has been relentlessly bombing Lebanon and Gaza— and in the West Bank Israeli militias and military continue to wage a war on Palestinians.
There is no ceasefire instead Israel is now able to kill as many Palestinians and Arabs as it can without any confrontation, without any consequences and without any accountability for its genocide.
PALESTINE’S🇵🇸 MANDELA: Marwan Barghouti’s son details EXTRAORDINARY efforts of his father to provide university-level education to Palestinian prisoners, despite torture and solitary confinement
‘The Palestinian detainees said that while my father was recovering, barely recovered from torture, what he did is that he started to teach those prisoners through the window, talking to them, giving them classes from six to eight hours in political science, in history, in Israeli studies, and so on.
Because you need to know something about my father, in Hadarim prison, where he stayed for 18 years out of the 23 years, he started what we call the Light Academy. He sent his lawyer to the head of Jerusalem University and convinced him to give him the ability to give official degrees through sneaking the grades of the detainees while he is teaching them.
And he was a very hard teacher. Seven days a week. He doesn’t take breaks. Eight hours a day. He has a PhD in political science, so he’s eligible to teach. And he used to teach in Jerusalem University. He’s graduated more than 450 Palestinian detainees with bachelor’s degrees, more than 200 with master’s degrees in Israeli studies. He is, of course, fluent in Hebrew, Arabic, and English.
And that’s what he continued, despite all that torture, to try and teach them as good as he can. And they said that he was the one who is encouraging them, who’s lifting their spirit and so on.
And I want to recall one of my father’s favourite quotes when I say “our chains will be broken before we are.”
So I have no doubt that mentally he’s the strongest person I’ve ever known in my life. But at the same time, I’m his son and I am concerned for his life, because it’s not crazy to think that the Israeli government would harm him.’
