An 18-year-old mechanic was killed by a gunshot to his right eye after being wounded and detained on January 9, according to information obtained by Iran International from a source close to his family.

The family of Amirmohammad Hatami spent 20 days searching prisons, morgues and security facilities before identifying his badly injured body through an old scar on his right shoulder.

Hatami, a young man of Bakhtiari origin, lived in Shahin Shahr in the central province of Isfahan, the source said.

His relatives initially had no information about his detention or where he had been taken after being wounded.
