@rupasubramanya@MarkJCarney I wonder what the poll results would be if they were adjusted for the impact of an extremely biased mainstream media. Carney benefits from the honeymoon phase and favourable media coverage, but this will turn as inaction on structural change persists and economic results decline.
@gothburz Regardless of the veracity of the claims made, it‘s inappropriate to litigate the matter in public, damaging a persons’ personal life and career. I am however curious if @jpmorgan agrees with the concept of “owning” employees. In the extreme leading to the behavior alleged.
@cbcwatcher This is Mark Carney, aligning with China’s position on this issue.
The Lebanese gov’t may or may not be sympathetic to Hezbollah but for sure we know there has been no containment of attacks on Israel leaving no choice but to defend itself since UN forces have been ineffective.
@cbcwatcher@USAmbCanada@MarkJCarney THE AGREEMENT EXISTS AND CAN BE TERMINATED FOR FRUSTRATION BUT CANADA’S ONLY RECOURSE IS BINDING ARBITRATION, THE ENFORCEABILITY OF WHICH IS QUESTIONABLE. CANADA’S TERMINATION RIGHTS ONLY SERVE TO MITIGATE (FUTURE) LOSSES AND RETAIN A $4-6B STRANDED ASSET.
@cbcwatcher@USAmbCanada@MarkJCarney How could anyone invest $4B in an asset and not have an advance agreement on how that asset would be operated in perpetuity or at least for the period necessary to achieve a return on investment??? Is Canada that incompetent?
@therealmrbench My suspicion is that Liberals and some Liberal media types are leaving X as a precursor to actions proposed to be taken when Bill C-63 (0nline Harms) comes into being. Already happening in other jurisdictions like Spain.
@simonateba It matters only if the activists were acting illegally In the church. Think of it this way, if a group of bank robbers met to plan a robbery and you attended, then you met at the bank to participate in the robbery with a camera, are you guilty of robbery or ‘just a journalist’
@KonstantinKisin “If something is not working in practice, why would you keep doing it” - because the people making the decisions don’t have to suffer the consequences. Soon income, capital gains, consumption taxes won’t suffice and property rights will have to be confiscated via wealth taxes.
@JasminLaine_ Inflation came primarily from money supply increases. From 2019 to 2025 M3 increased by approximately 35%, M2 approximately 42%. You have 35 - 40% more currency competing for a marginally increasing level of goods and services. The resulting inflation shouldn’t be a surprise.
@ScottJenningsKY Propaganda is as old as war, used in all conflicts. So I don’t believe media “fell for it” i.e. incompetence, but rather it was done knowingly. We can speculate on motive, but I’m beginning to think it’s just all about media audience engagement - what sells to target audiences.
@Tablesalt13 Sure, it’s funny. But does PP think he can win an election if he alienates Canada’s mainstream media? There are a lot of older voters who still get the majority of their information and bias from these sources. He’d be well served to tone down this rhetoric until he’s in office.
@brianlilley Isn’t it all just a sham anyway? Scheer and Reid delay their no votes until it’s clear the budget is going to pass, otherwise likely to abstain. CPC claiming the budget is a disaster for the Canadian people but all along planning to let it pass to protect their political interest
@amuse Have to ask, why is Schumer being thrown under the bus now by the left. They want him gone. Also, never missing a chance to roll out every anti Republican trope out there.
@ryangerritsen My assumption is that Ford is doing this with the full knowledge and blessing of the Carney government. It’s a good cop/bad cop routine they think will work to get a better deal. This routine only makes sense if the behind the scene negotiations are not going well.
