On May 27th, Amb ISOMATA signed three grant contracts. Japan has provided USD 1,343,202 for these projects, which will be implemented by MAG, The HALO Trust and DASH, to support their humanitarian demining activities in the Northern and Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka.
On 29 May,Amb Isomata&FAO Rep. Mr.Sharan signed an agreement before Hon. Fisheries Minister Chandrasekar. Japanprovides $1.33M to restore cyclone-affected inland fisheries🐟&strengthen climate resilience in the Eastern Province.

MOFA will launch the 20th Japan International MANGA Award and accept entries by non-Japanese manga creators from 15 April to 30 June 2026. MOFA established the Japan International MANGA Award in 2007 with the aim of promoting manga culture and international cultural exchanges through manga by awarding overseas artists for their excellent manga works. PM TAKAICHI held an online meeting which was attended by leaders of the Asian region including partners of the Asia Zero-Emission Community (AZEC). She announced the launch of Partnership on Wide Energy and Resources Resilience Asia (POWERR Asia), a new cooperation framework consisting of both emergency responses and structural ones with mid-to-long-term perspectives. The attending leaders welcomed this meeting and showed their support for POWERR Asia, confirming that the countries will collaborate to address the current challenges together.
