With Japan's 🇯🇵 and MDP's support, Moldova 🇲🇩 is strengthening cooperation for #JournalistSafety.
Journalists, police and prosecutors worked together to build trust, improve coordination, and strengthen responses to attacks against media professionals.
@DelUnescoJapan
We would like to congratulate Prof. Qun Chen on his appointment as the ADG/ED.
Under UNESCO80, we held constructive discussions on improving the performance of @UNESCO’s work in #education and further strengthening partnerships.
On 29 May, the Annual Review Meeting of the Japan Funds-in-Trust was held at UNESCO HQ (Paris) with the attendance of @UNESCO_DG El-Enany. Japan will continue to support UNESCO's efforts in the three priority areas. See more details here: https://t.co/gaHlVGknAp
Pleased to welcome @UNESCO_DG back to #Japan🇯🇵. Honoring the commemorative event of 75th anniversary of Japan’s accession to @UNESCO, DG El-Enany met various stakeholders of Japan; Ministers, students, business leaders who all committed to the spirit of the Organization.
FM MOTEGI attended the Japan UNESCO 75th Anniversary Celebration Forum, co-hosted by the MOFA, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and the United Nations University. FM MOTEGI stated that UNESCO is the first UN agency that Japan joined after the war, that it is an important partner in Japan's diplomacy and development cooperation policies, and that Japan highly appreciates UNESCO’s activities and has actively cooperated and collaborated with it. #UNESCO

In Tokyo, during my first official visit to Japan as Director-General, and as we mark the 75th anniversary of Japan’s membership in UNESCO, I was honoured to visit Shibuya Junior & Senior High School — a UNESCO Associated School since 2009.
Japan’s network of some 1,200 @UNESCO Associated Schools is one of the largest in the world, showing the power of education to advance peace, sustainability and global citizenship.
UNESCO is proud to count Japan as a trusted partner as we continue working together to build peace through education. #ForThePeople
My first official visit to Japan as Director-General of @UNESCO is especially meaningful as we celebrate 75 years of Japan’s membership in the Organization — and an even deeper partnership rooted in peace, knowledge and international understanding.
At the @UNUniversity in Tokyo, it was an honour to mark this anniversary alongside Minister for Foreign Affairs, Toshimitsu Motegi; Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Yohei Matsumoto; former UNESCO Director-General, Koïchiro Matsuura; Rector of the United Nations University, Tshilidzi Marwala; and Chairperson of the Japanese National Commission for UNESCO, Junko Hibiya.
From some 1,200 UNESCO Associated Schools to Japan’s World Heritage sites, Creative Cities, Intangible Cultural Heritage traditions and research centres, this partnership is felt by people and communities across the country and around the world.
I also paid special tribute to former UNESCO Director-General Koïchiro Matsuura, whose vision and leadership remain an inspiration for our Organization.
As we look ahead, UNESCO and Japan will continue building peace through education, science, culture, communication and information — including through our shared commitment to defending freedom of expression — with trust, impact and people at the centre. #ForThePeople
