What was the end result of Democrats’ DHS shutdown?
Zero ICE reforms, and ICE and CBP are now funded with an additional $70 billion through the rest of Trump’s presidency.
After negotiations fell apart in the Senate, Republicans simply went around Dems and funded Trump’s immigration enforcement agenda on their own, & Dems were powerless to stop it.
And this is *on top* of the money ICE & CBP already got in the One Big Beautiful Bill last year.
ICE & CBP now have more money coming to their coffers than they ever would have if there had been no DHS shutdown.
Alex is a key part of the team who is loved by all. They call him “the friendly Alex Meyer” around the White House for a reason.
But don’t let his southern charm fool you…Alex is a killer who knows how to pull the right levers and get stuff done.
Glad he’s in the foxhole!
Alex is among the best of the best. Working for him these last 18 months has been both a privilege and an honor.
This office was relentless in Alex’s vision to communicate the President’s mission and agenda out to state and local governments, work with our federal partners in the many departments and agencies on critical issues states face, and bring information in from our in-state partners.
We are all lucky to have had him lead this office and we are just as lucky to have @ashleyangie25 take the reins at such a critical time.
Congratulations, @AlMeyer19! You will be missed but will deliver huge wins for the President in November. Onward! 🏴☠️⚡️
.@NBA Commissioner Adam Silver: President Trump was a fixture at Madison Square Garden. He had courtside seats. He was here all the time, he was at Drafts — so he's a genuine @nyknicks fan.
It’s been an honor and a privilege to be in the trenches with Alex Meyer @AlMeyer19 over the past 18 months. Alex is a great leader, family man, and friend. He grew our office into the one-stop shop for State and Local Elected Officials.
Early on, when hosting our legislative leader fly-ins, aka “White House State Leadership Conferences,” Alex would always kick it off by asking, “Who here knows what the WH Office of Intergovernmental Affairs does?” One or two hands might go up. Fast forward to January of 2026, that same question easily got 50-60 hands raised. That demonstrates the growth and power of our office, which wouldn’t have been possible without Alex’s leadership.
Our office has hosted nearly 1,500 legislative leaders who heard from Cabinet Secretaries and our Domestic Policy Council. Because of this initiative spearheaded by Alex, we are helping codify President Trump’s America First Agenda at the state level! 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
Alex is now going to serve our country in another capacity—helping keep our majorities in the House and Senate. Our office is in great hands with @ashleyangie25 at the helm, and White House IGA’s future couldn’t be brighter.
Fair winds and following seas! 🏴☠️ 🏴☠️
Last Friday, Alex Meyer @ALMeyer19 completed his last day as the leader of White House Intergovernmental Affairs. Alex solved problems and grew relationships with Governors, Attorney Generals, Member of Congress, State Legislators - elected officials across the country. Too many to count.
Alex was a critical part of our 2024 campaign, particularly leading President Trumps decisive Iowa victory in the Caucus which kicked off win after win in the campaign.
Alex returns now to the political world to helm important midterm races. Candidates are fortunate to have his talent.
The many across the country he helped navigate challenges in the White House continue to admire him and I look forward to continuing to collaborate along the way.
I wish Alex much good fortune and I’m offering my best wishes for many successes in the weeks and months ahead.
Few have the privilege to witness the extraordinary amount of behind-the-scenes work it takes to build relationships and pursue the shared agenda between @POTUS and state government teams like ours. I’ve been blessed to watch @ALMeyer19 do just that, lead an extraordinary team, and work closely with my team and I to do the blocking and tackling needed to build a safer, more free, and more prosperous future for America and Nebraska. I’m grateful that under @POTUS and @SusieWiles47, leaders like Alex have emerged and been empowered, and I’m equally grateful for his work building a welcoming “front door” to the White House for state leaders.

Another victory for freedom, liberty, and prosperity in Latin America!
Could there be a direct correlation between the end of USAID and this move towards market based economies? Was the US tax payer funding socialist movements in Latin America? The evidence seems pretty clear.

When @SusieWiles47 gave me the opportunity to work for @realDonaldTrump in the Iowa Caucuses, I never could have imagined it would lead to serving in the White House as the liaison to our nation’s Governors, Attorneys General, and state elected officials.
Susie — thank you. Not just for the kind words, but for the trust you placed in me from day one. Watching you lead the most consequential campaign in modern history and then build the finest White House staff in a generation has been the honor of my career. I am a better operator because of you.
I am forever grateful to President Trump, @JamesBlairUSA, and the entire Trump team for the opportunities and lessons of a lifetime.
The White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs is as strong as it has ever been and is in great hands under the leadership of @ashleyangie25, @ConnorReardon_, and @JaredBorg.
