I don't normally praise MTL or QC governments for money decisions when it comes to sports, but deciding to pull out of the World Cup was honestly a good move.
Way too much money to get only a handful of matches and be considered the "other host."
How did the Toronto Marlies with one of the worst prospect pools in the NHL defeat the supposed stacked pipeline of Kyle Dubas that is hailed by many Leafs fans?
Teams need to stop handing out NTCs like candy.
It hurts more than it helps.
Especially with a skyrocketing salary cap, just pay your players more and reserve NTCs for true superstars.
A top-10 D has to be great offensively, too.
Especially since the difference between great and bad defence is much smaller than the differencs between great and bad offence.
Slavin is great, but he's a step or two behind those guys, at least.
Slavin sadly got called underrated so much by everyone, that he became (slightly) overrated.
Still an elite DFD, but after this season you can’t have him near the Top 10 D’s in the NHL in my opinion.
If a trade is submitted after the deadline, doesn't that only mean that the acquired players aren't eligible for the playoffs?
Doesn't mean the trade should get canceled. Teams make trades after the deadline.
I'm a bit glad it didn't go through, but it should've.

Elliotte Friedman says he heard that Knies to Montreal was DONE at deadline but fell through because it was submitted at 3:01 PM. Would you have wanted this trade to go through?
#GoHabsGo
If that package is truly what the #GoHabsGo agreed to, I'm kinda glad it didn't happen.
I would 100% love Knies on the Habs, but that's a lot to give up for a winger.
Trading 2 1sts in back-to-back seasons doesn't seem very smart, either.
As trade chatter picks up, sources tell me Montreal & Toronto agreed to a trade involving Matthew Knies ahead of the trade deadline, but the deal didn’t get thru in time. Will they revisit with a new Leafs GM?
More here, plus Larkin, Nurse, Eakins + more https://t.co/Sg8rBfiFKI
CF Montréal will hold a press conference at Stade Saputo tomorrow afternoon with MLS commissioner Don Garber following his visit to Stade Olympique. He'll have a meeting with #CFMTL employees and representatives from Canada Soccer before. @onesoccer
Buffalo exploded after their GM was fired. Kinda works as a contraindicator that Ruff was responsible for their resurgence. They always had great players.
Tampa had an excellent season with a bunch of nobodies.
In no way shape or form did Cooper deserve this award over Ruff.
This isn’t a legacy award. Feels like this was just handed to him for his accomplishments in the past
Gutting loss considering who was left in the draw. Wide open chance to win the whole thing.
Too many missed opportunities from FAA (especially in the 3rd set), but I can't even be mad.
That was just a monster match from Cobolli.
Would've been tough for anyone to beat that.
🇨🇦(4)Felix Auger-Aliassime bows out in the Quarter-Finals of #RolandGarros to 🇮🇹(10)Flavio Cobolli in 4 sets.
The third set is where everything changed. 0/8 on BPs. Cobolli 1/1. Felix won the opening set with the roof open. 0-for-3 with it closed.
Heartbreaking💔 #CdnTennis
Brendan Gallagher is THE example for a player who knew what it meant to be a Montreal Canadien despite not being from here.
A lot of the current players followed his lead.
There's such a thing as being gassed while also being the 2nd best team in a series.
And the gassed team's opponent is hardest xG-driven team in the league.
Can't really call it fraudulence when the #GoHabsGo won 2 (deserved) close series against good teams.
From @TheAthleticNHL: “When asked about Claude Lemieux’s death, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office told The Athletic that deputies responded to a suicide attempt at a furniture showroom, which state records show is in Lake Park, Fla., and is owned by Lemieux and his wife, Deborah.
The Sheriff’s Office secured the business for investigation.
The Palm Beach County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Lemieux’s death but declined to release any records, citing a Florida statute exempting suicide cases from public records requirements.”
