Today we had a very fruitful meeting with Bridget Mogale, Illumina Head of Africa, John Gatimu, East Africa Regional Manager Illumina, Rushabh Shah CEO of F&S Scientific Kenya; at @kutrrh

We discussed a partnership which will enable our patients access genetic mapping for various diseases including cancer and other infectious diseases. This will be done through Next Generation Sequencing Machine where results will lead to precision treatment for various conditions. First in the priority list is to know which cancers are hereditary so patients can take preventive decisions and also which diseases are preventable through change of lifestyle behavior. Most importantly the results of genetic mapping will dictate the type of medication to be prescribed by our Doctors .

The PRESIDENCY is SANCTUM.

It is like a shrine.

It is sacred.

The person in it (the president) is supposed to remain stainless like Ceaser's wife.

He must be beyond reproach.

He must be scarce from the public.

His appearance and utterance must be minimal and measured.

His actions must be seen only in the silent implementation of Government policies.

His silence should be loud and his actions should be silent.

His movements should be abstruse.

His wife and children should be in a hole and corner. — not influencing Government policies.

But,

A president who is readily available and publicly accessible brings shame and ignominy to the PRESIDENCY.

A president who loiters like a homeless vagabond, making pronouncements through instruments of communication disparages the sanctity of the PRESIDENCY.

The so-called demystification of the presidency has brought dishonour and disrespect to the PRESIDENCY.

The president is a mysterious image whose imagery creates SUSPENSE, HONOUR and RESPECT.

In my time as a member of the Senate Energy Committee I have come to learn of a very powerful office at KPLC called a “dispatcher “. A person who has a view of all our power generation plants and decides whose power is “dispatched” (added to the grid) and when.

We heard testimony from cheaper green energy generators being “curtailed” (essentially being told not to supply) with the dispatcher opting for electricity from more expensive thermal generators.

I have prepared an amendment to the Energy Act to bring greater transparency hapo kwa dispatcher. Hapo kuna mchezo. The bill is ready for publication.
