"For two agonising hours in Noida, a flickering flashlight pleaded for rescue. That small beam of hope should shake our collective conscience."

A road accident that occured in Noida Sector 150 on 16 Jan 26 which is very close to where I stay, invoked intense pain within me at the loss of a life which could have been saved with involvement at every level. Hence Iam putting forward my thoughts hoping that effective corrective measures shall be put in place by the administration in charge.

It is extremely shocking to see the response time and action by the Rescue agencies and the police . This team that we trust and rely upon to save lives could not save a young man who was crying for help for 2 hours!! The analysis about all the causes of what lead to this incident can be debated endlessly with everyone blaming each other. An accident of this nature happens because of a system failure. It cannot be attributed to one reason. The accountability lies with the Top management officials in the State Govt who are directly accountable and responsible for providing leadership. That has clearly failed. But as an aftermath of this occurence,the Govt authorities who could not save a young man who was showing the light and hoping to be rescued for 2 hours is most inhumane , irresponsible and heartless. They could not save one man !!! Why didnt they call the military for help? The trust and confidence the public has when they call police and hoping they will take the right action.. in terms of summoning the SDRF,NDRF and maybe even someone else like military, helicopter rescue, local QRT's who could have definitely saved his life is a part of their deliverables. How did they let him sink?? The flipkart delivery guy, Moninder Chaudhary should get a bravery award for his efforts. The Govt authorities sitting in top positions should come out of their comfort zone and speak as to why they did not save the young man. Instead, the focus now is turning on to penalising builders, discussion of non actionables of complaints from irrigation dept etc. No, the first focus is to answer-why couldn't the Govt authorities save the young man who was desperately calling for help for 2 hours? Are we so incompetent. The leaders holding the top positions are accountable and we want an answer from them as to why they could not rescue the young man and what is their action plan wrt this aspect of incompetency to rescue even one person when they had more than 2 hours to save him. It's important for us to be humane and all of us in whatever position we hold to introspect , be honest and correct ourselves . We expect the leaders to speak out why the system they are accountable for did not rescue the young man, Yuvraj Mehta pleading for help for 2 hours which was very much possible had they put in timely coordination, escalation and efforts.
