@Tyler_T15 Iowa plays hard and is finally a pleasure to watch at both ends of the floor. But effort can only make up for size deficiencies to a limited extent and they are going to struggle against the top third to half of the B1G.
@ScottDochterman Agree completely Doc. And just because Indiana hit the coaching carousel lottery doesn't mean it's likely to happen to any other program. Iowa's program is admired by those in the know and disparaged by fans with unrealistic expectations. Go Hawks!
West Virginia made a strong push throughout the day yesterday and Ben McCollum listened like anyone would. He weighed his options and toured Carver last night. He then made his decision.
I haven’t spoken on or refuted anyone’s reporting nor will I. I report the way I report.
@HawkeyeFederal1@ChadLeistikow She was prepared to offer increased NIL according to reports. But Indiana simply has resources allocated to men’s basketball that Iowa cannot compete with. Bad luck that IU targeted the same coach as UI.
@HawkeyeFederal1@ChadLeistikow Disagree—the fact that CHA was two-thirds empty cost the athletic department millions. Whatever one’s opinion of Fran as a coach he simply had to go.
@ChadLeistikow Excellent article Chad. Iowa is a very difficult place to coach--limited D1 talent and hard to get quality out of staters to come with lack of post-season success. On balance I think, despite McCaffrey's relative success, it's time for a change.
@NicoleAuerbach Strong words Nicole. As a fellow Michigan alum we faced a version of this dilemma in 2020 with Harbaugh who looked himself in the mirror and figured it out. Day may be too mentally wrecked to do the same.
@NicoleAuerbach Good article despite the lack of breaking news. She strikes me as sort of a female Bob Knight except...most of his former players love him. Her former players...not so sure.
