@NotJackKemp@historybro Telling my kids we have to live with Nana now because I lost everything on a prediction market to other people and not to the house and they are different
@Aredraider@NotJackKemp@sweetpeech69 That's why you put your money in the same place as the people who are rigging it. They are incentivized to make the S&P 500 go up. I've made money on the AI boom and I'll lose money when it busts, but it should have good returns in the long run. Rebalance close to retirement.
@NotJackKemp@sweetpeech69 It's rigged in the sense that power players control it all, but you buy index funds to lower exposure to risk. I'm all-in on John Bogle's philosophy. IMO it's the safest way to benefit from the stock market while lowering risk. https://t.co/Sr1XzBsBrT
@sweetpeech69@NotJackKemp I agree, but if we're stuck with capitalism it gives the normies a chance to benefit from ownership in companies & the economy. It doesn't exploit gambling and psychology, Robinhood and the trading apps do. The mechanics may be different, but all these apps are predatory.
@NotJackKemp I don't think you should compare the stock market to Robinhood. Robinhood is predatory, just like prediction markets and sports betting apps. They are all made to exploit dopamine and addiction and bankrupt people. At least with Robinhood you are buying ownership in something tho
@NotJackKemp I guess I'll have to go back and relisten to the argument. If you think this is the same as the S&P 500, you are not investing, you're gambling. It's a long term investment that is valuable because of historical growth. If you're timing your investment, you're gambling.
Cooler weather is rolling in across North America, so it’s time to trade out those summer fits — with a little help from our (bird) friends.
