At Blueridge, students and staff learned about and remembered the missing Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit people through books, conversation and art. @NVSD44#reddressday

There’s a tendency to look at challenges facing universities in isolation — funding, enrolment, infrastructure. Our latest report with Canadian Association of University Business Officers (CAUBO) looks at something we don’t always talk about: the financial model behind Canada’s universities.
Institutions are adapting, but often through short-term measures, deferrals, freezes and trade-offs that can affect long-term capacity. At the same time, Canada is heading into a period of higher demand for talent and education.
That tension is at the core of this report:

The cap was emergency surgery. Now recovery must begin.
That means faster visas, region-specific policies and rebuilding Canada’s reputation. If government, universities and business act together, we’ll secure the talent to power our economy.
That’s why we’re urging a federal ministerial roundtable to deliver real solutions.
@gabrielbmiller is right: surgery alone doesn’t heal the patient. Canada now needs recovery — a ministerial roundtable to bring government, universities and business together on policies that will secure the workforce our economy depends on.
That means more efficient visa processing times, policies that reflect regional realities and rebuilding Canada’s reputation to attract and retain the talent it needs.
#SkyTrain to #UBC must be Metro Vancouver's next public transit priority.
Like a regional Town Centre, UBC is an economic and transit ridership powerhouse.
Delaying it only adds to the costs of an inevitable project. #TransLink#bcpoli#vanpoli#vanre

These are a group of the smartest young innovators, inventors, and thinkers in the world, and they’re not letting them go to Harvard? OK then. We’ll take ‘em. We have great U’s here too. History’s biggest brain drain can become Canada’s gain!
