40% of Portlanders are considering moving. The solution from Tina Kotek’s allies: impose more tax and fee hikes to make the city even less affordable.
The average Portlander will see $1500 in new taxes and fees for utilities, water rates and trash collection. Even the art tax is going up.
This is what happens when our leaders put their own agendas before serving our communities.
It has to change, and it starts at the top.

The Freedom Foundation applauds the Louisiana Legislature for passing SB 312, a major victory for worker freedom that ends arbitrary opt-out windows and requires unions to clearly tell employees upfront that membership is completely voluntary.
No more traps or high-pressure tactics! Workers will now get immediate responses to opt-out requests and full protection against discrimination for choosing not to join.
We urge Gov. Jeff Landry to sign SB 312 immediately and put Louisiana workers first.
🧵If you're a teacher, police officer, first responder, or any public employee tired of your dues funding big labor's politics and bureaucracy, then the Freedom Foundation's newest project is for you!
Nearly 7.8 MILLION government employees are stuck contracts with big unions like the NEA, AFT, SEIU, and AFSCME.
Many never voted to unionize. They're getting "representation" whether they want it or not. And those unions answer to national headquarters, not to them... (1/6)
“Oh, cool, y’all are planning a big get-together for the President’s birthday?”
“No, it’s a protest.”
“So, large crowds will gather in his name across the nation on the day of his birth?”
“Don’t say it like that.”
“And there will be a cool concert?”
“A protest concert!”
“And people will have watch parties for the birthday concert? Kinda like a reality show dedicated to him?”
“No!”
“Will there be cake?”
“I hate you.”
Nice gaslighting from AZCentral. No, the sky isn’t falling.
HCR2040 simply prohibits your tax dollars from being used to support teachers unions. It still completely allows teachers to join unions, pay any associated dues & operate within that structure.
HCR2040 doesn't ban unions. Doesn't restrict membership. Doesn't silence teachers. It simply says Arizona taxpayers shouldn't be funding union operations. That's a principle most Arizonans — union member or not — can get behind.
We are incredibly fortunate to live in the greatest country on earth, which exists only because we have brave Americans willing to die to defend it. Take time today to remember their sacrifice.
@FrannieBlock asks: Are American teachers’ unions really just political machines?
A new report out today accuses both the American Federation of Teachers and the National Education Association of spending tens of millions of dollars on electing Democratic political candidates, and prioritizing politicking over the needs of their union members.
The report found that of the NEA’s $450 million annual disbursement budget from fiscal year 2025, less than $46 million, or 10 percent, was spent on activities directly representing the union’s constituents.
“You read a stat like that,” said Tova Plaut, a New York City teacher and a member of both the NEA and AFT, “and you start to wonder, Where is all that money going?”
The NEA did not respond to multiple requests for comment.

"If a union claims the right to speak for every worker in a bargaining unit, it should be supported by a majority of its members."
A simple standard — and yet unions across Florida are fighting it. CEO @AaronWithe explains why SB 1296 is the right call in his latest for @WSJ.

Great roundup of @FreedomFdtn supported reforms making their way through state legislatures to make government unions more accountable to taxpayers and their members.
