Great players are coachable players! Coachable players can handle any constructive criticism without becoming angry/disrespectful. No coach wants a player who can’t be corrected without going off the deep end. It’s not ever personal. Just listen & learn. You’ll be better for it!

Coaches: Ask yourself “what does it feel like to be coached by me?” Do kids feel belittled, embarrassed, isolated? Or do they feel respected, listened to, included, wanted? Building relationships with players is imperative to a successful team. Players have to know that you care!
Positive leaders are demanding but not demeaning. They’re passionate and committed to excellence but don’t run people over to achieve it. Lead positive today and inspire others to greatness.
Things you can’t control will always outnumber things you can control. Uncontrollables are things like: your opponent, officiating, injuries, the past, the outcome, others’ actions & expectations, etc. Don’t waste time on those; focus on, commit to & refine what you can control!

Women’s lacrosse had more TV time than ever in 2021, but it still pales in comparison to the men’s game.

Congrats to @laxbycate on her 2023 All-Star performance at @underarmour150 Thank you @robinson_sports_inc for hosting such a neat event for the class of 2023 and 2024. https://t.co/5NfO3vFgam
It doesn’t matter who you are or who you know. It doesn’t matter how many times you complain to a coach, rant at a game or try to twist the facts to suit you. At the end of the day, you have to walk on the court with your teammates & perform. If you can’t, well, that says it all!
Regardless of your role, you can always rally your team! You have a responsibility to give your best. Your body language & what you say is seen & heard by your teammates & coaches. Your attitude can strengthen & encourage your team or it can tear it down. Be a positive force!
Treat people right. Appreciate them, encourage them, support them and make them feel like they matter (because they do). Do this at home, at work, at school, at the store, etc. Do this with people you know and people you don't. Try your best every day to make someone else's day.
A good player-coach relationship is built on trust. As a coach, you earn your players’ trust by helping them improve and showing that you truly care about them. And as a player, you earn your coach’s trust by giving your best effort and being coachable.
Coaches: If you want a cohesive team, a team with unity & mutual respect, spend more time raising your players to meet the program’s standards than criticizing every mistake. Yes, teaching/correcting are part of coaching, but embarrassment & shame aren’t. Think before you speak.
How Coaches Build Relationships with Players:
Learn about their lives
Hold them accountable
Be someone they trust
Be honest
Be empathetic
Believe in them
Encourage growth
Teach life lessons
Support them academically/athletically
Listen
Appreciate uniqueness
Don’t judge
Be fair
Everyone wants a coach who’s passionate, dedicated, knowledgeable, but none of that determines a coach’s true worth. The best coaches are the ones who grow their players by impacting/improving not only their players’ performances & abilities, but also their lives & their futures!
