@AliceMartin2880 caught an experiment likely seconds from disaster in our second year undergraduate labs today. It did show very nice crystallisation through the crack in the glass though @StAndrewsChem

So it turns out that the samples my student has made are both thermo- and solvatochromic. Looks like this experiment just got a whole lot more interesting!
