I love seeing publication announcements from friends and colleagues (and future friends and colleagues!). As much as I love seeing them (and I really do!), they sometimes make me feel like I'm not keeping up or doing good enough work myself.
Hi @thetrainline. Quick question — your online copy say there is no booking fee when booking on day of travel, yet when trying to book a single via the app for today, the app is adding a £3.29 booking fee. Can you clarify the policy?
Does anyone know an up to date list of premier league players’ (for lack of better term) “PSR value”— current estimated transfer value (transfermkt?) minus their current amortized cost. Don’t need it, just curious. @KieranMaguire@POF_POD
In their #openaccess article "Going Nativist" Kathleen E Powers, @JasonReifler & Thomas J Scotto argue that nativism is a higher-order belief that constrains the relationship between lower-order economic attitudes and beliefs about international trade #IPE

@JakeMGrumbach Probably. But 3 serious questions: 1) given how much is spent, is there any marginal effect of the next million or even 10 million? 2) where are there actual gains from spending (media, GOTV)? 3) how much is consultant grifting (how much of next million actually buys anything)?
(Some people may not prefer some or all of these standard Dem issues — and some of these people may be in battleground states and reminding them of the threat Trump poses to American democracy. But the Dem issues alone — as shown here — are going to do the bulk of the work.)
Not a ton I can add to this already great and timely analysis from @dbroockman and @j_kalla (and the @Blueprint_2024 research cited at end of thread).
The standard Dem issues are pretty popular — Democrats have won the popular vote in 7 of the last 8 presidential elections!
NEW w @j_kalla at @mattyglesias' "Slow Boring":
What's better than calling Trump weird? Convincing voters Harris is normal
In survey testing 76 messages w >100k people, we find:
- anti-Trump messages doesn't work
- pro-Harris messages do, especially "typical" Dem messages 🧵
I feel like I’ve been seeing posts lately that say “the basic spatial model doesn’t work/apply anymore.” These results throw some needed cold water on that assertion. People are more inclined to support candidates that push for the policies they prefer!

@prisonrodeo Most people are not so hyper online to see how terrible EM is as a person, nor are they so attentive to business news to see how awful Tesla is as a company to its workers, its customers, and the environment.
Do we genuinely need anonymous peer review for journals? Is that better than an editor/editorial team/editorial board simply making quicker decisions on manuscripts?
Are we really getting a sufficiently positive return on the resources (time) allocated to peer review?
