The "buy vs rent" debate is peppered with comments being like "My parents bought a brownstone for $30,000 in 1970 and now it's worth a million, there's no way they should have invested instead" and then you look it up and it would have grown to 9 million dollars in the S&P 500

That is somehow less than he would have made simply indexing the S&P 500 over that time period ($13B)
@BradFriedman713 I can agree with your thoughts, BUT I do think it would be way cooler if we all root for our local teams or Alma Mater. The amount of Ohio State fans who went to BGSU and actively rooted against BGSU pulling off a massive upset was sad.
