@acweyand I struggle to see why anyone must inform you of their bowel, urinary, menstrual, GI, or other miscellaneous medical needs. Just to ensure you're not skipping class.
@acweyand Week 1 week of M1, facilitator insisted we announce it & stop PBL if anyone had to go. Questioned me in front of everyone for discreetly leaving. How anyone at that level of education can't name a solid 5 reasons to suddenly leave is beyond me. It's 100% in the workforce to go.
Healthcare folks: anyone have info on risk profile for UTI in #transgender folks? I know some has to do with urethral length and I wonder if HRT plays any role. I reckon genitals alone aren't the end-all. Plus bottom surgery exists. Send sources if poss & TIA #LGBTQ#MedTwitter
Mentor just told me that daring to exist authentically is ENOUGH. Not easy to believe as someone community-centered. She then told me a story that exemplified how impact exceeds our awareness & happens it its own time.
Reminder: you existing is moving mountains #LGBT#Medicine

@TripleThreat_MD I wish the support could ever be enough to drown out the violence, but I know it can't be. In the meantime, know we're in your corner. You'll never be alone in this fight. Thank you for alwayd showing up. I appreciate your existence. Just put on your mask first.
This hospital is literally receiving threats based on misinformation. Imagine being so personally against someone's existence that you choose to begin harassing staff at a children's hospital. Please let these people focus on helping kids.
"Boston Childrenโs Hospital has warned employees about mounting threats and is coordinating with law enforcement after far-right activists on social media began targeting the hospital."

@Lionhearted_ben Reminds me of the Maya Angelou quote about people never forgetting how you made them feel. I imagine most patients care more that you're present & empathetic than about your %le.
Keep doing what you're doing. You're going to make so many peoples lives better!
@Ledgemd This! There are so many often unforseen consequences of not fitting into neatly packed boxes in people's minds. This is my first time out at an institution and it's been a challenge. Thank you for setting an example for use that come after you.
Could anyone on #medtwitter or #LGBTQinHealthcare share insight on psych residency programs strong on the DEI and advocacy side? Esp on LGBTQ+ issues? Nontrad career changer (mental health side) trying to start exploring. TYIA!

@lrb100@jack_turban I'm a first year med school. Used to do casework but changed careers to be a part of the emphasis on person-centered care in medicine. Thanks for the suggestions and encouragement!
