@OwenRask Intresting point i always fear people who etf invest only untill retirement might retire and then think ive been investing for years its easy then blow them selfes up trying to pick stocks because they don't know the fundamentals.
@ReneSellmann This would have to be one of the worst takes I've read. selling a business because it drops after what you perceive as good news is the most follow the crowd mentality I've seen. If it drops 4% it's bearish but 3.9% it wouldn't be ? Who listens to this trash
@TMFScottP@StephenCena Agree the money has to come from somewhere i just think this approch is disappointingly unfare to younger people they could of for instance changed the discount from 50% to 40% and just said nobody is exempt from today all shares and homes sold will only be discounted at 40% ?
@TMFScottP@StephenCena Where younger people will now have to accumulate through the new system ? It is literally a direct tax on younger people in accumulation. Only seem likes a win for accountants with the complexity of indexation.
Love your work on the pod machine BTW 💪
@TMFScottP@StephenCena Scott im surprised by your support of cgt changes labour selling them as helping young people but it will affect us the most. Yourself and others older than you will have lived through a very generous cgt discount and system for 25 years and will keep that tax treatment on gains
Best advice I got in my 20s: Nobody cares. When you’re winning, nobody cares. When you’re losing, nobody cares. Stop fearing the judgement of people who were never even thinking about you. Nobody is thinking about you. They’re too busy thinking about themselves. Go do the thing.
So you can learn who you are. What you’re good at and more importantly what you’re not so you can incorporate this into your investment rules. You will come to the conclusion you needed to start planning earlier but these times will cement that lesson.
Druckenmiller on what traits the best investors have in common
"They are extremely competitive. They have an unbelievable will to win. If you look at anybody with a great investment record, for whatever reason, the people without passion cant compete with them. They have passion, and they are just willing to work harder."
@MMatvikov I've also wondered if gst could be used to control inflation instead of rates as rates effect a minority of people the most generally 30-50 year olds with large morgatges the most.
Although if the government raised a tax, it would never go down again we know that.
@MMatvikov I mostly agree with this it would make the tax system so much simpler. Although it does feel like it would put a heap of pressure on small businesses to collect the additional gst and would probably cause an uplift in cash jobs 😉.
As promised, here are the ideas from the thread with the question "What's your favorite non-US idea at the moment? + Explain why you like it."
Thanks to everyone who responded! 🙏
