GP @VSCVentures, backing physical AI | Founder, Dirty Jobs: Invite-only summit for 300 builders of the dirty, dusty & dangerous | Past: @CarnegieMellon @NFL
Deedy Das has been a VC for 2.5 years. In that time he's backed OpenRouter, Wispr Flow, Goodfire, Pangram, and more.
He also passed on a company Nvidia later bought for $20B. On this episode of CLIMB, @DeedyDas, Partner at @MenloVentures, brought *all* his receipts.
We also had a fun debate about the value of going open source. When he said open weights are not going to be the cheap way out, I pushed back so he priced it all out for me.
KIMI K3, about $15 per million output tokens. Well, Opus is about $25. That's all the discount you are getting, and to get it you are now hosting and maintaining a 2.8 trillion parameter model yourself.
His read on the labs shipping open weights is that they are not in the business of giving away free things. They'll give it away until they can charge for it.
What if frontier model costs don't meaningfully come down? Maybe free models were never free?
Hear his argument for yourself and tell me if you agree. EP 101 of CLIMB is live 👇
Bollywood rom-com about corporate espionage where two undercover spies for competing neo labs meet and fall in love while trying to infiltrate the #1 AI lab and steal their potentially world-ending model.

@dangaron@lizwessel I think CX used to be a lot better years ago. I had the same leak/puncture issue with the Pod 2 and they also replaced it no questions asked.
More recently we had a different issue and I got a $250 coupon and straight up told to go buy a new one.
@lukas_m_ziegler It's funnier if the second caption is "Physical AI" vs. "Robotics."
Robotics actually has a clearer definition, whereas Physical AI is a different definition based on who you're talking to in that moment or on that day.
Lindon Gao used @DynaRobotics model to get 99.4% success rate folding napkins. Turned out customers didn't care about your "success rates" in a lab.
A few days before announcing Dyna 2.1 and their semi-humanoid Taku, @Lindon_Gao joined me on the Dirty Jobs main stage and teased for our invite-only audience:
— Why Speed, Throughput, Quality are most critical to what they measures now
— Why hardware remains the bottleneck in physical AI today and the semi-humanoid opportunity
— Why there's no such thing as bad data, only lazy labeling
— Why deployment data is essential to building the world's best robotics model
Hear how and why a model company evolves into deployment on Ep 103 of CLIMB with Lindon Gao and Jay Kapoor 🦾
@toddsaunders From an investor perspective, this is incredibly well said. Thanks Todd
There are investors who deeply understand that we are backing someone's life's work and while financially it may represent an option bet, I believe it’s my job to make you never feel that way emotionally.
The NFL has rescinded the $14,926 fine it imposed on 49ers FB Kyle “Juice” Juszczyk for what it thought was a distasteful celebration of chugging a beer. The league said it was withdrawing the fine “because his celebration was simulating drinking a juice box, not a beer….Mr. Juszczyk finally stated that the fine is hypocritical with the amount of Bud Light sponsorships surrounding the NFL.” Fine rescinded.
NFL players used to be blessed with nicknames like Megatron. Beast Mode. Honey Badger. The Bus. The Law Firm. Muscle Hamster.
In 2026, nicknames are initials… CMC. JSN. DK. JJ. TJ. AJ. WTF!
We’re on the cusp of losing decades of culture in the NFL. This is my Roman Empire.
Folded Napkins. Robot Babysitters. Learning Loops. Hardware Bottlenecks.
For @Lindon_Gao and @DynaRobotics, 99% was never the finish line, it was the starting line.
Episode 103 of CLIMB from Dirty Jobs drops tomorrow.
@jbotsch Those aren’t bad but even King Henry feels lazy compared to Revis Island or The Red Rifle or DangeRuss or the Legion of Boom.
Need some better creativity for our NFL stars today.
@naywilliams I remember that when the Giants had hefty lefty Jared Lorenzen at backup QB we called him “He Ate Me”
He was also the “Pillsbury Throwboy”
@Toes110 There are worse options there than starting Vincent Adultman at QB.
You could be riding the weekly roller coaster that is the Jameis Winston experience.
