I tried to be an actor when I was 20.

I gave it 3 years.

I failed.

Then I thought I wanted to be a lawyer.

I got a job as a law clerk, took the LSAT and spent a year preparing for law school, only to find out I hated it.

Had to pivot again.

Moved to California with my girlfriend so she could attend grad school.

I started my business career in early 2005 at age 27 as a receptionist.

I made $2,666/month after taxes. At age 27.

Living in California.

I didn’t make my first investment until I was 31.

I didn’t make $100k for the first time until I was 33.

I didn’t start my company until I was 39.

Now, at 45, I have significant ownership positions in over $200 million of real estate.

Most of which I created from scratch.

There were many years along the journey where I questioned my plan.

Tons of self-doubt.

Saw many of my friends making far more money as attorneys, bankers, lenders, and in tech and private equity.

But I stayed the course.

I had a vision of where I wanted to be and what I wanted to create.

It just took a long time to get there.

Act with urgency, but don’t rush.

Do it right.
